LAX transit question

Quick question for any KEers who arrived and transited thru LAX onward to an U.S. domestic destination. My daughter-in-law is arriving KE 1 ex NRT connecting with CO to IAH. Does she have to schlepp her luggage to Terminal 6 or is there transit drop off after customs at TBT?

After clearing Customs at TBIT, you go up a ramp and around a corner to a very cramped little room where baggage can be re-checked for onward flights on most (if not all) airlines. You will see TSA agents there ready to snare anyone in a verbal harangue lest onward pax escape TBIT with their bags (thus reducing the need for the service).

On nearly every occasion I've used the re-check service, I've had a lovely little we-opened-and-searched-your-bag card inside when I collected my bag at the destination. I stopped using it a long time ago, not just for that reason but also because giving my bags to those hacks just creates another opportunity for the bags to get delayed or lost. I take them directly to the Delta counter myself. It's kind of a schlep but not too terribly bad. The only bad part is that baggage-screening at the domestic terminals isn't that much better than outbound screening at TBIT (always FUBAR).

But if you're trying to sneak a few overweight lbs. past the carrier, I'd give the TSA hacks at TBIT a try-- in all likelihood, they won't care.
