Transiting in Seoul ?

Hello,

I am finding confusing informations on Korean air website. I am a French national and am considering in one week to fly Yangon-Seoul-Paris on a single ticket on Korean Air, with less than 24 hours in transit.

Please can somebody confirm that I would be allowed to transit in Korea ? Leaving Myanmar and entering France is not a problem for me.

Thanks you very much in advance if somebody can confirm.

Your Yangon flight arrives morning and flight to Paris leaves in afternoon correct? So your bags will transfer to final destination no problem. You will stay "airside" and just follow signs for transfer, only clearing security. Do not have to "exit" the airport and check in again or anything like that. You will stay in T2 with Korean Air for the whole time. Very easy.

As mikesaidyes stated - as long as you stay in the "sterile" area - you should be fine. With building of T2 - all SkyTeam flights will be based out of T2 and you won't have to leave the terminal to check-in as well as check in your bag. Your bags will be checked all the way through to CDG from Yangon

I have a transfer as well but I have to get to T1. Am I able to get to T1 without leaving security during covid?

Yes - you just follow signs for transfer like all passengers. You'll need an itinerary or boarding pass and a stop at the transfer desk - but you can take the airside undergroundtrain (only those with flights can enter the terminals, it's not like open for all).

Any problems transiting with two separate tickets?

There can be huge problems and it can be completely impossible depending on the airlines. We can't say "no problem or not" without more info on your ticket.

It's some low cost Korean airline call TChain to AA.

There is no airline called T Chain. There is an airline called Tway.

They are a low cost carrier, so they won't transfer bags to AA. So, you can't travel with bags because you would have to go out to baggage claim get them and then check in again at the ticket counter for AA. Can't do that with corona restrictions.

If you have no bags, then you can transfer just fine because of course AA would have a presence at the transfer desk (or you just visit the gate for your boarding pass or any issues).

You need to make sure EY operates a presence at the transfer desk, which they should as a major airline and many other airlines (like Asiana and Korean) codeshare with them.

You can transfer between terminals - just show your itinerary and you'll do a simple security check. HOWEVER, you cannot go back to T2. T1, Concourse, and T2 are connected by a train but they're very much only for passengers that are supposed to be there and they do check your itinerary/boarding pass. They do not like it when you go back and forth and always call some escort to guide you there blah blah.

As a connecting ICN passenger (KE > KE) in 10 days, I just received an email from Korean Air about the quarantine. Makes no mention about connecting passengers, though I would be astounded if they are including them too. I'll assume quarantine is for those passing through immigration / customs and officially "entering" the country.

They could have saved themselves countless phone calls & other contacts, along with passenger anxiety, by just addressing the subject of connecting passengers in their email.

Correct - not applicable to transfer passengers. Only if entering the country. However, they're of course playing it safe by sending it to every passenger because then someone will complain they don't know....

I am reviving this year old thread…

I will flying Delta to ICN arriving T2 then I need to move to T1 for a flight on Asiana. Separate tickets. I will not likely have a boarding pass for my OZ when arriving. I hope to stay airside. Is it still ok to transit terminals only with my itinerary? Thanks!

Yes, it is. Just show the itinerary and they'll let you on the train to T1 where you can visit the transit desk in T1.
