Same Day Standby
 

I have a flight from BKK-ATL leaving at 11pm. Do you think KE would let me standby on a morning flight to ICN so I can sleep in the airport hotel to break it up? I’ve done this a few times with KLM without a problem. My thoughts are it depends on the ticketing agent as the usually have the authority. Never been on KE so I have zero experience with their rules.

Korean Air is a very "old school traditional" airline in may ways when it comes to things like standby, "cash upgrades at the gate" (which don't exist). Personally, I don't have any experience with this - I would just call the service center and ask. I feel like the gate agents are very restricted in things they can do like "free, simple standby on the spot" - does that make sense?
