Aircraft changes - how likely/often?

I think there's a website (flightradar maybe) that can assist, but I think the free one only goes back like 5 days.

Anyway:
Booked an award ticket last May (May 2019) for May 2020.
Wanted the 747, but got the 77w anyway (that's fine).

Alerted today that it changed to 747 (yay). haha

I know that it's still 6 months out and there's probably a good chance of changing again (fortunately KE has good email notification apparently).
Just curious as to how often KE changes aircraft on that route (I know it's "slow time" for them vs. more frequent travel).

if you check this site - https://www.routesonline.com/news/ta...55/korean-air/

You'll see that around 3-4 months before (Sept 2019) - they start announcing winter aircraft changes.

Example: I bought a ticket to Bangkok in August for Christmas. In September the time and aircraft were both adjusted (but I don't expect anymore change). So I'd expect one more change (or finalization if you will) in like January-ish.

Last week I was notified that I have an aircraft change for a flight in May 2020 (ICN-NRT). It is for the better; from an A330 to a B747-8, so I get a newer upper desk seat.

On a related note, how often do aircraft configurations switch back? Or, to put it another way, how accurate is using the seatmap to determine configuration within two weeks of the day of flight?

My IAD-ICN flight next Friday swapped from a Kosmo Suites 2.0 to a 1.0 aircraft, using the Business Class seatmap as a guide. Deciding if I should look to jump ship to another route or stick with what I have.

Thanks!

That's a bit surprising. I know for a fact 100% that if it's a 747-8 aircraft - it's a new seat. Try for one of those. They run it daily JFK midnight flight and ATL flight.

Not sure. There was a youtube video where some guy and his family booked award/cash tickets specifically on a Kosmo 2.0 Suite flight, and KE changed the plane and it downgraded to a non-Suite flight, and then like a week before, or even the DoD, it upgauged again, but it was 1.0 Suites (after they'd switched the cash tickets to Business/Prestige to save money).

Looks like you're on the 777-300er where there's two versions (I think) (KE094)?? which is the non Kosmo 2.0 Suite aircraft

I'd switch to the 747 as it's "guaranteed" to have Kosmo 2.0 seats in First, granted you fly from IAD to Atlanta on a 737-900 via Delta, and then to ICN, but if KE will do that for you, you get the Kosmo 2.0 Suites.

Thanks. Switching to the 748 would be ideal, but no seats available on the day I need to travel. Right now, it appears the daylight SFO and the SEA flights have the 2.0 suites, but none others. Since that is highly subject to change, I don;t think switching to another 773 flight makes much sense. I may switch to the JFK flight 380 flight. Guaranteed not to have the 2.0 suites, but it at least would have the foie gras and the sauternes wine, which I'd prefer to the caviar offered from IAD.
