I decided to take a gamble and chase the 747-8i from ICN to ATL in February, 2019. That seems like a better chance than ICN to JFK. My other flights are on the 77W with the Kosmo 2.0 so hopefully there won't be any changes for the worse.

ICN-LHR on 25 Sep 2018 in J: hadn't specifically chased a 747-8 flight but was delighted that things fell that way.

As ever, impeccable service and the new J-class seats very comfy. I'm not 100% sure about the semi-suite arrangement but all in all, highly recommended.

Looks like the 747 has been switched over to the A380 to/from JFK until November. Very disappointing.

I think they re-routed/moved it to ATL now? Although when I was checking there's only 1 award seat in F ever available.

In the past ICN-SYD would change to a 747-8 about a month or two before switching to the A380. This is also when AKL gets them (lasts during the northern winter).
LHR and FRA more or less alternate between A380 and 747-8 (sometimes to 77W though)
JFK is 1x 747-8 and 1x A380 until the summer where it goes 2x A380 and I think this is when SFO switches to 1x 747-8 1x 787-9 instead of 2x 77W
FCO and ATL get them year round.
PRG, KUL and SIN also get them during the northern summer
Starting this year CDG gets them during the 8th weekly flight during the summer season.

So I take it that I should want to book a flight with 747-8 over the A380?

I think it depends on.
I wanna say the 747-8 First Class is spacious to say the least, however, I recall it lacks the "main bar" area that the A380 has.
But the A380 doesn't have the Kosmo 2.0 Suites either, just the regular Kosmo (non-enclosed) suites.

Depends on what you prefer more, IMO.

You don't mention your intended class of service ... in both first and business the 748 seats are superior to the A380 seats, though if you're traveling with someone else, the 748 first class seats are not ideal. In coach, A380 seats are significantly wider.

A380 has a lounge area for first and business class at the back of the upper deck; 748 has nothing equivalent.

Depending how far in advance you're booking, there is a risk that the aircraft assignment may change by the time you fly.

First class: Donít think much difference, 747-8 seat is similar with A380 seat except extra door
business class: 747-8 sure win, A380 seat is old style

Anyone know if the last row has any restrictions on the seat recline and what rows are 34 inches in pitch vs 33? I have 2 little kids so Iím trying to stay away from everyone by picking the rear.

Booked on 748 for ICN-ORD in May. Really hoping there's no equipment change.

Very nice. Wish they operate 747 to west coast!

Doesnít look promising, only ATL JFK and ORD starting end of March 2020 at this time.

Where in Asia does KE send their 748's?

I'm flying from SEA to either TPE/ BKK or TYO in April and would like to catch this bird. I was looking at the schedules for March 2020 last September of 2019, and saw these on the two TPE-ICN flights at that time, but now both are A330s.
