Selecting seats during reservation?
Hi guys,
I was on KE to check tickets fares, and I was wondering if it is possible to book seats during reservation. Also, I saw that it was possible to "pay later ": I was a bit surprised. What does that mean exactly? You make your reservation, and you have time to pay for it? Thanks |
I have never flown on KE - just doing some investigating today - well evidently in economy you cannot book or even look at seat map before making a reservation. I find this almost unbelievable for a major? carrier. I'm also surprised to not see more postings on this (I looked back several pages, did not search tho) but again, really, you can not check a seat map?!

Apparently, you have to call them to book your seat

Our TA booked our tickets & 6 reserved seats in Y for us recently on his system - his displayed showed status & our choices were confirmed (about 90+ days out) He was able to tell us the approximate load of each flight segment ... to expect a full flight on our return.
Within a week of of our actual flight date, we're able to go into our individual SkyPass system, review the options & saw that additional blocks of seats were released & available - and, we moved from the last "Y" section in the 50's to the mid 30's over the wing. Had to wait another 12 to 24 hours for the continuation flight's seats to be opened up. That option to re/select & change available seats - in advance - is closed at the 48 or 24 hours countdown clock to scheduled departure - until, we can finally do OLCI at minus 24 hours ... by which time, most of the better/preferred seats are most taken or assigned. Higher tier/status flyers on SkyPass probably have better access to those options since we are "infrequent" KE flyers. But, we're chatted with the check-in agent @ the counter on our outbound & she advised us that the flight wasn't full & we had rows of 3 seats side-by-side for 2 of us each on the A388 ... that was nice, coupled with the 34" legroom for 14 hours :D On our return - no luck on extra elbow rooms as previously advised by our TA but we still managed to change from the mid 50's to rows in the higher 30's together. Just make sure you have KE's 8 alpha-digits booking/ticket confirmation #'s before calling them to ask & see what they can do, and, when ... Good Luck :p |
