JFK-ICN Overnight Meal Question

KE 086 JFK to ICN departing Nov 26 at 00:50. (Then KE 893 on to PVG). Economy class unfortunately, as we are leisure travelers and not pros - haha

First time flying KE, very excited overall though when we booked it was on the A380 but due to schedule changes we're now on the 777-300ER. Oh well, we're for vacation and will make the best of it.

My question has to do with meal timing for flights leaving after midnight from the east coast of the US. This is our first time traveling to Asia - what meals should we expect to be served (dinner, lunch, breakfast, snack) and about what timing? My wife and I will both be trying to maximize sleeping hours, and will probably take something to help.

Anyone familiar with this route, at this flight time, and can chime in on meal, service, timing and general experience?

Thanks!

In general on KE transpac flights, there are snacks available such as nuts and noodles in-between meal service.

You can ask a flight attendant or just walk to the galley(kitchen) area.

They will also do a bottled water run in the nighttime or early morning.

Check Morning Calm magazine: http://morningcalm.koreanair.com. They used to say what the meals were (breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper), but now you just get meal/beverage icons. KE86 is scheduled for meals in hour two and eight of the flight, each preceded by a beverage service. Additional beverage services are scheduled for the fifth and thirteenth hours.

Basically they wake you up in the middle of sweet dream for the second light meal and starve you until the landing. I'm not a fan of KE's US (except West coast) to ICN meal schedule.

Thanks all for the replies. Looks like we'll be shooting for a few, post meal z's.

They have stickers in the seat back pocket that say "do not wake me" or "wake me for duty free" etc. The lights will be on, but they have eye masks (just ask). They'll also put a sticker on your seat that says "you were asleep, ask for food." That being said, if your seat is reclined, they won't shake you to wake you, but they will have to put the seat in original position.
