Its sad that the 748 is getting phased out of SFO - much nicer F and J cabins than the 777 and it's a more iconic aircraft than all the other ones. I checked Airlineroute http://www.routesonline.com/news/38/...ervice-in-s17/ and it looks like KE is increasing frequencies to 2 daily flights from SFO-ICN using 777-300ER starting in September.

I'm glad I was able to experience F in the 748, and will be taking the family on the J upper deck in the summer before it gets shifted to some other route.

AFAIK AKL will get 748 again for the northern winter, same as the last two such seasons.

Booked JFK - ICN RT in September, but looks like it's all A380 with the old prestige sleeper seats until end of year. At least it'll be a smoother and quieter ride right?

A380 biz is nice actually.
Due to the large number of biz seats, there will likely be an empty seat beside you.

Also there is a nice lounge in front and a bar at the back.

I wish the 748 was flying to LAX, it would be a real treat to try its first class cabin compared to the a380. Does anyone know how KE chooses routes for this? I've seen 1 or 2 at HNL. From what I've seen, it's supposed to be only the 744 on that route.

I got an email for KE about equip. change from A380 to B747-8i on TPE-ICN route second week of November. Booked in F looking forward to it ^

My KE F flight ICN-ORD is still B777-300.

Any idea where the 748i will be deployed around Sept of '18? I was looking to book HKG-ICN-JFK which is all 748i now, but those dates it shows 777 and A380.

It is absolutely waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early to know just under one year from now. They won't confirm fall equipment until about 3 months before. In the mean time, it chould change a lot. So don't expect anything to be set until around May/June of next year.

Ok, I need to go from HKG-ICN and ICN-JFK on those dates anyway, so I booked it. I guess I will just cross my fingers and hope it goes 748i. I could switch to one of the later HKG-ICN daily flights or the other ICN-JFK if/when there's a swap. I should check back in May/June? Is there a fee if I keep the same day and routing but swap to alternate flights on the same days between the same city pairs in the same class of service?
