Change inbound/return flight fee and fare difference
I'm trying to change my return flight, but the fare difference seems out of whack.
When I reprice it online, the difference is 163 USD for the new flight. The Malaysia call center quoted me a fee of 300 USD. I doubt Q-class will open up again between now and departure, as it seems all Q-fares are gone around my return date and it's probably the cheapest to begin with. Here is the fare if anyone cares to look it up: QLW50BSP. The way I read the fare is that you are permitted one inbound change with no reissue fee. Is there any way to get around the fare difference? Or at least get it close to what the website says? |
Since you must change the ticket over the phone, I honestly doubt that you're going to get anything different than what the phone reps quote. They're not the most thorough bunch in KUL, I know, but it is what it is. Sorry!
And yes, Q is the cheapest, so that's why they're probably quoting you up on the next level. The difference between Q and the next level is always a couple of hundred. You're right about the change fee, but the fare difference rule is always there. |

Have you flown your outbound? If not, entire ticket needs to be re-priced with fee and fare difference. Once you have flown your outbound, the inbound can be changed with according to fare rules. Of course, the availability can change and your desired date may no longer be available.
I'm trying to extend my ICN stopover an extra day. This means at this point my BKK-ICN segment has to be reissued also, even though I'm only trying to change the ICN-IAD segment (since the fare is IAD-BKK). So I guess that makes it a little bit more complicated haha. |

You are subject to availability of original booking class, which looks like Q, unless you pay fare difference.
Thanks everyone for the feedback! |

That's what I was afraid of. I'll probably just see if Q opens up in the next few days, because I think that's much more likely to happen versus after my outbound departs.
