New Years Day in Seoul - holiday or are things mostly open as usual?

I'm going to be in Seoul over New Years and am trying to figure out if Jan 1 is a total holiday like it is here in the US, or if things (coffee shops, tour buses, museums, shops etc) are likely to be open.

As I've looked around at things where you can book tickets online (ie tours), it appears that Jan 1 is a "normal" day, but I'm skeptical as to whether the online calendars are truly representative.

Does anyone have any insight?

Thanks in advance.

It is a holiday from work, but everything will be open. Saunas, tourist sites, everything. Gotta get the won from those on their days off.

It'll be a fairly normal Sunday.
