Quick ICN Layover - change USD at airport or pay with USD
Hello! I have a 3 hour layover at ICN and will probably have to buy food. I know the rates are bad for both changing money and using USD at the airport, but which is a better choice? should I change my money first or just go ahead and pay with my USD?
Thank you for your time. :) |
Credit card? ATM for Won?

The difference would be fairly minimal on a small amount like a food purchase, and you already recognize that the money changer isn't necessarily going to give the best rate either.
If you pay cash in USD, bring small bills because I believe they give you change in won. Credit cards are also widely accepted and would be my preference (me asking them to charge in KRW instead of USD since my card is fee-free). |
I've flown through ICN a few times. It's best just to find a restaurant that will accept your credit card or pay in USD. It's not worth the trouble of exchanging the currency or withdrawing it from an ATM.
