MERS Outbreak - What's being said in South Korea?

We travelling to South Korea in a few weeks and we've been reading articles over the last week and this weekend about the MERS outbreak. It's something we're wanting to be aware of but we're not changing travel plans.

I was curious what the local discussion on the MERS outbreak is like in South Korea?

TIA.

We have travel plans in the next 10 days and is also concerened about the MERS outbreak situation.
My feelings is, it will all boil over rather quickly like the SARS epidemic in Hong Kong and the recent Ebola epidemic in the US.

Anyone have real time information in Seoul as to the travel restrictions and travel within korea?

Thanks in advance!

There are no travel restrictions within Korea. Just the people who were in contact with Patient Zero seem to be affected. Try to enjoy your trip and don't mind people wearing masks. It's usually not for MERS but yellow dust, pollen and haze. They wear them year-round.

Today's latest article from the Korean papers. What's worrisome is some of these patients were unaccounted for and may have infected others while in absentia. Yikes.

Thanks for tracking down those articles. Reassuring to read that it appears that the spread of infections seem to be limited to at the hospitals.

One of them refused quarantine and may have infected a whole plane and brought MERS to China. He's currently in a Chinese quarantine somewhere *facepalm

My mother in law (who is the chief of her department at one of the largest hospitals in Seoul) said its more or less contained to the hospital. Doesn't seem like too much to worry about..

Reassured about the corrupt and inefficient Korean government, however abiding to SARS era precautions individually and collectively should work this time as well.

Not to be rude, but it may be her job to say that. There is a lot of censorship in this country and the government does not seem to have a handle on this.

Some hospitals can't even enforce their own quarantine.
