OT:B747 crew rest area
Hi,
I just came of the BKK-AMS route operated by the 747 combi. On my outbound, I noticed that 3 quite large looking guys got invited into the cockpit and never came out until arriving into BKK. Overheard one of them mentioned that he had a terrific sleep. On my inbound today, there was again a group of most probably the captain's family entering the cockpit (leaving only 1 daughter whom happen to sit next to me). There were about 4 of them that entered. I am thus very curious how many can you fit in there? I would expect that rest area near the nose would have beds only for 2-3 persons. So, if everyone brings their whole family up there, how will the FO and the backup crew sleep? Is this also legal? Just that I have not seen this on other airlines. btw: Not to turn this into a non-rev story, the "daughter" of the captain was given 3 of the Delft houses. It was just done in bright daylight without any attempts for discretion from other passengers incld. mine :p Though I think she did not get that much attention besides that (not that I was awake that long to bother) :) |

The cockpit crew rest on a 747 has 2 WBC seats and 2 (very comfortable) bunks. Fitting 4 pax in addition to the additional cockpit crew woukld be a bit of a challenge even though there are 2 additional flight crew seats in the cockpit in addition to a toilet which is right besides the 2 toilets on the upperdeck.
