No, maybe not. I always thought the legroom was OK in there though - and I am 6ft 2in! Anything it can do behind that has to be good though right?

The zone between doors 1L and 2L on the 747 will be turned into KL's version of Economy Plus product, so I am guessing they will remove some seats there too to increase seat pitch and recline.

As to the installation of AVOD in Y-class, not sure how long this will take but my sources at KL tell me 1-2 aircraft of the 22 747's will be in the hangar at a time to do the installation. So that gives some hope the installation will indeed be completed before the Summer timetable in 2010.

According to www.acarsd.org, PH-BFN was not heard of between 27 May and 12 July. After what I presume is its return after retrofit, it did five trips to CUR and thereafter a trip to NRT.

You may have been lucky to have BFN if this was its first flight after retrofit.

If from this 6 week 'gap' on ACARS it can be concluded that the retrofit takes 6 weeks, there would be no other candidates as all other B744 have had lots of activity recently. Only BFD was 'out' for two weeks recently. Any other speculation?

According to a Dutch press release, the next 747 which will be retrofitted will be finished at the end of the year (in December)... :(

Read the (translated) press release here!

Are there any news about the retrofitting? How many 747's have already PTV's? I'm going to fly to LAX 12/26/09 are there chances to get a PTV?
Thanks, bye!

Mixed stories about that.
1x all passenger 747 definitely (PH-BFN).
Although some say also 1 more at this time.
Apparently the Civil Aviation authorities have to certify the "test aircraft" first before KLM can retrofit the rest.

Other stories I hear is that before July '10 all 747's (22 in total) will be retrofitted, so they'd better start hurrying then.

I have a flight planned on 13 Dec with KLM from AMS to Tokyo. AMS -> TOK (NRT) will be carried out with a 747 Combi, while the TOK-AMS will be with a full pax 747. Any chances one private in-flight enterainment?

I've been in KLM 747 Combi before in 2008 and 2005, both times AMS to LAX. Combi's are quite OK I guess, there was horse in back:cool:!

does this mean this flight will in a retrofitted 747? or just a premature website update.. no idea how to find out which plane i will fly that day to double check this (ams-hkg 11-01-10 which is always a combi)

Just back from a return trip BKK-TPE. Both flights were on B747 full pax. And both flights didn't have economy plus or PTV.

We were seated at seat 11D and E which should be economy plus.

Did you note which registrations?
Once there are a few more we can start a thread here perhaps.

You gotta love the way they promote the alleged benefits:

Located at the front row of the Economy Class cabin

Gosh, that must mean up to 40 seats abreast! :D

Hot and cold drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)

Really? Does that mean the poor folks in regular economy now only get water?

Movable headrest

I guess the headrests in economy have been fixed in position with superglue!

This has been known since a pretty long time. EC also has PTV's in all seats.

BTW: "Welkom bij" FT!!!
Are you also active on a.net? I'm pretty sure as I'm active their too and recognize your username from a trip report!
