Warning - Tuc Crackers rant!
 

OK, Ive been connecting in AMS for the last few months now and I've reached boiling point over being offered Tuc Crackers out of a box. It's got to the point that I feel personally offended Im expected to eat these things!! Cardboard would be tastier and to be frank, Id rather not be offered anything than insulted by being invited to share in the bland cracker fest!

Actually TUC crackers used to be quite tasty before their reformulation a couple of years ago where the saturated fat content was about cut in half. Before one could eat a couple and satisfy one's recommended daily allowance of fat in three bits. Alas, today they do more resemble cardboard.

Try the ChocoPrince biscuit instead.

Or tear off part of the box and chew on it. Then the FA can just pour the biscuits through the hole for all the other pax.

No, they are a bit better, those chocolate biscuits. I was really hoping for reintroduction of sandwich service, or a bit of variety on the nonsense they serve. I hate the lo-co pay for what you consume concept, but sometimes sitting on a KL flight I wish I could just buy something a bit better.

Anyway, because of the stupid mistakes at Flying Blue, I should see less of those blasted TUC biscuits in the coming months.

I constantly lament the abysmal, rubbish service the airlines provide on short flights. Any dinner table conversation ends up slagging most of the airlines off for the rubbish they serve up. No-one talks about the other, important aspects of a flight, such as safety etc. Just the service, because it is the most visible thing when you are actually in the plane. Does it really cost so much more just to improve it a bit?

For my experience, which despite a fair bit of flying is still limited, the best service in European economy is provided by OS, OK, LG and VG. Any others?

Why don't they charge for "real food" and give it free to elite's - like BMI?

As of yesterday, the Choco Prince biscuits are gone. They have been replaced by something that is supposed to resemble banana cake or something.

I thought I'd give it a try but on my next flight my answer was back to the usual 'no, thanks'.

The Tuc crackers are still there. As well as the usual inconsistency: sweet or savoury on my first flight, sweet and savoury on the second flight.

Who at KLM came up with that brilliant idea? Maybe another way to save costs? serve something so awful that people will not want it. It didn't work with the Tuc biscuits but it may work with this banana cake.

They are either cheaper, or weigh less. Probably both.

Maybe they bought the banana cake on e-Bay - it was back to Tuc and Choco biscuits today ;)

TUC & Prince rant II
 

I apologize for reviving this old thread. (And for my first post in this forum being a rant...)

I am currently commuting through Amsterdam every week (= 4 flights on KLM per week) within Europe and I have to say... Why in the world is it only TUC und Prince??? Why? Has some intern ordered a hundered billion of each and now KLM passengers need to eat TUC and Prince until the year 2019? Why can't they have something different every week, just like any other airline? Just something different? I remember KLM TUC/Prince from late 2007 and it has not changed since then. Why? Why? Why?

Anyone else suffering from being overfed with TUCs and Princes?

No idea, but there is a solution: bring your own snacks.

I think it's KLM trying to emulate US airlines (and we all know what a great role model they are :rolleyes:) Can anyone who has flown DL more than once look at a bloody Biscoff biscuit without fear for their life? Apparently, US airlines have decided that customers like reassuring brands, which means known names (rather than quality) and always the same. That brought the dreaded Uncle Ben's ready meals on KL long haul until they were replaced by something barely better. The truth of the matter is that KL has barely more understanding of the concept of good food than industrials specialising in pet food would. No good... :(

A blue cheese and plum spread in a raisin-almond bun. That's what I had on Thursday morning as a KLM breakfast service at around half 6 in the morning. Total refusal - at least I choke down the TUCs every once in a while :D

Once, having been op-upped to ES on a mid-morning flight (:)) and, it has to be said, feeling a little fragile from the night before (:o), the 'meal' I was offered was a pile of raw cow-flesh (veal tartar). I felt like asking the FA if I could have the TUC biscuits instead! :D
