Layover and delay

Hi, I have a flight from Istanbul, Turkey to Toronto, Canada with an Amsterdam layover. Both of the flights are from KLM Airlines. But the layover time is relatively short. 55 minutes.

In case of a delay, would the Amsterdam-Toronto flight wait for me?

Thanks.

55 minutes is a legal connection, and you should normally make it - especially as you are flying non-Schengen to non-Schengen which means there will be no passport control to worry about.

However, although legal it IS tight, and if your inbound flight is late you could end up missing your connection. If there are lots of delayed passengers they may hold the flight. If you are the only one they almost definitely won't, though they may leave the door open until the last possible moment.

Will your baggage make it? Maybe. Maybe not. It's always a gamble.

PS - just re-read your post. They will transfer your baggage, so all you have to do is grab your carry-on and run.

Except for wednesdays, KLM has two daily flights to Toronto. If you're booked on KL691, and you miss your connection, they will likely put you on KL695 which leaves AMS at 6.20PM... (Except for wednesdays of course)

Thank you soo much guys, I think I'll make it to the connection. I unfortunately have the KL695, so it's the last AMS-TORONTO flight of the day.

It's good to hear that I won't need another passport check. So all I'll do is go my gate and wish luck to my luggage. And I'll study the map of the airport for sure. I'll let you know, how it goes. :)

And where can I find a map of the Schiphol Airport? I have no idea, which gate I'll enter the airport but I need to find "Terminal I" for my Toronto connection.

You can find a map online somewhere at www.schiphol.nl - or in the back of the inflight magazine, Holland Herald.

There is no such thing as a Terminal 1 at Schiphol. Schiphol has "Piers", and your departure gate will in all likelihood be in Pier E, F or G.
