Presumably the KLM office in your country of residence, i.e. Germany in your case.

Steve,

The bottom line here seems to be, that someone asks for help how to get a comp and we should help him out as much as we can.

Beside that I think everybody is free to open a new topic how KLM s**** these days, but we should discuss it in the appropiate thread.

I dont think we should help him as much as we can, why should I or anyone else spend hard earned money with a airline and EARN my status when someone else can just hop on for what is usually a few flights they have to take before returning to their existing programme.

If you dont like my postings block them out, no one is making you read them.

Just my two cents worth.

no one is obliged to help anyone here on FT - but ...
it is probably one of the major (at least initially as I remember) reasons for success and (some very good) comradrie of this board, if a majority of posts are of a 'helping/answering-to-individual-questions nature'.

Discussions (includes dissatisfaction) of/about airlines/frequent-flier-programs is for sure also part of FlyerTalk, but, in my opinion, serves the community better, if done in seperate (clearly 'labelled/titled') posts and not as a addendum ('highjack'?) of posted individual questions/answers.

It is not that easy to avoid 'highjacked' posts in threads that (by their title) are of interest for me, or where I think (by their title) that I can make a valuable (= answering, or extending the question) contribution. I only know, after reading posts, what they are/were about ...

Thank you Rudi for your statement, greatly agree with you.

I find Flyertalk to be an excellent community and source of information, that I have greatly benefited from. Therefore I am commited to help myself whenever I can.

I don't think those few benefiting from Flyertalk - e.g. in form of a status match - will affect us negatively in any way.

The only exception might be special deals that could get pulled quicker if there is too much attention. But even here: I will continue to post deals I find, because I find so many deals through other FTers posts. If common sense prevails we won't loose much at all.

Back to the subject: I would recommend calling the KLM office (not ticket office, but marketing office) in your country and asking for the consumer marketing rep for your country. Explain your plans to them and ask them to relay your case to the right person at Flying Dutchman.

That should result in you getting an answer about the time they start flying to Mars

I am interested in this thread for the following reason.

The last time KLM had a card match scheme I imformed a colleague who enrolled. He has retained Platinum Elite through his paid for travel patterns.

I joined the Bmi Diamond club and moved much of my travel from BA to Bmi as I too was given Gold match status. I have subsequently retained that for three years through paid for travel.

It would now suit me to move my remaining BA travel to KLM if they would match my Gold BA status allowing me a year of premium check in , lounges etc and more importantly access to otherwise fully booked flights, seating arrangements.

From the curt replies here, I guess It isn't worth me asking them and therefore they will loose out on my travel business?

By all means do ask. It never hurts to try.

Yes whats one more in the lounge or in the line up for priority treatment when you need it.

As my part to the cause I am going to have a special sign that will attach to my trolley bag that says follow me to the lounge as I can now invite 2 guests.

I was looking at the new Guiness book of records and they have not got a section for the most people in an airport lounge so maybe I should conatct them to see if we can get Schipol in there.

Well, I was thinking the 10 friends would follow once I figured out how to go about doing it. Too bad I didn't think to send in all the information at once http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I didn't receive any word back on the fax I sent 1/13, so I sent another request via fax for comp to platinum today. We will see if they do anything...

jasons2e Jan 27, 2004 8:30 am

I got an email today replying to my 1/13 fax. They told me to send in my KLM boarding passes and they would credit me with those miles. Obviously they didn't read my fax very thoroughly. I replied to the email and hopefully they will comp me to Platinum. I now have my doubts.
