Upgrade for miles question
 

I'm flying AMS to Seoul next week on a full fare economy ticket. If I use miles to upgrade to business to I still earn the status miles on the ticket ? I seem to remember reading somewhere that you don't earn miles on any ticket either bought with miles or upgraded with miles.

You earn the miles for paid class of ticket so you would earn Y miles in your case.

Pmcg's right; you are entitled to earn level and award miles in whatever class you purchased. So it definitely pays to check when your miles post. Obviously any ticket purchased with miles won't earn miles, unless there is a glitch in your favour (sometimes can happen when rebooked during IRROPs).
