S CLASS BOOKING CODE

I just booked a refundable upgradeable (with miles) S class ticket through CONTINENTAL on a KLM flight from JFK-AMS-CPT. What is S class...is that the equivalent of Y class??? I dont beleive Continental and them telling me its refundable!!!!

First thing is that if CO have told you it is refundable then it is. If they then "change their mind" then you have cause for a refund in any case.

To answer the question as far as I can see "S" is right at the top of the KLM booking system for coach so I would expect the fare to be refundable.

Maybe an expert can confirm this?

"S" class is Full Fare Coach, fully flexible and normally more expensive than a discounted Business Class ticket, booked in "Z".

I would recommend to doublecheck, if there are any deals in C, before burning the miles..

Correct, but only on KLM mainline flights. KLM Cityhopper and Exel use Y for full fare economy.

So true, Johan !

Desperately trying to explain that to KLM Germany, but since some years now you cannot book any intercontinental flights in C on klm.de, cause the booking engine does not find space on one class Cityhopper flights to AMS, if you continue in C from there !!

Out of curiosity, can anybody elaborate on the typical costs for a C return from AMS-JNB/CPT and maybe JFK-AMS ?

S class is sold at different fare bases, hence different restrictions. It's best to check your own.
