Webawards Discount?

OK This might be a silly question, but I am gonna ask it anyway !

KLM has a discounted webaward with 50% less mileage to Lisbon, so a roundtrip Amsterdam to Lisbon is 12500 miles, but I do not want to start my journey at AMS, but LHR.

How much mileage should I have deducted for this award ? I am somewhat befuddled by these WEB awards.

Depends on the category of Web@ward.

Some are strictly point-to-point. Others include a discount in the overall mileage for a valid itinerary passing through those two points. So, for the latter category, if you included a feeder flight from the same region (e.g. from LON), then the points total would be the same, the discount would apply, and it'd be the same price as from AMS.

I think.

Ah, but looking at the Web@wards page, the Lisbon discount is on the point-to-point page. So, sorry, no London.

Hi Chris..worth an FD phone call to clarify, but I suspect you're going to be out of luck...pretty unfair in my book, but do let us know the outcome, if only for future reference.

This is ridiculous...

I can understand that KLM reduces the deal to departures out of AMS only, actually 4 segments for 12500 miles would be too good or maybe they feel the obligation to do something for their countrymen, but I don`t undertstand the logic behind this.

Why not make it easier for everybody by simply reducing the award 50 % for people who do not need the feeder to AMS and 25 % for people who need the feeder....
Would be reasonable IMO !!

Or what about offering a discounted fare for the feeder, maybe 50 Euros on top of the award, you have to pay the taxes anyway.Would bring some additional revenue...

Right now I guess a lot of folks would burn some miles, but have no chance, because a KLM feeder flight would be too expensive on top of the award, which was always the case in the past from DUS....

Beside that I think that a lot of people still consider this deal too good to pass on, if they can find a decent fare to AMS.Those guys will certainly not take KLM, but the the cheaper competition...

Any thoughts ??

Sure, as long as "Fly Co to see the Yanks" is not active on this board, everything is fine...

To be fair, there's usually a decent enough selection in the through-fare section. But I've seen more creeping into the point-to-point section too...

Yes that's clear with this months offers...

A huge bonus for those living near AMS...

Actually I took the opportunity to visit AMS for one day during the easter holidays on the 50% offer from STR.

Mmmm - I obviously cannot read - I had never noticed that point-point thing before. It's typically Dutch - as clear as mud.
