What department answered your email? Normally KLM UK CS do a pretty good job (for some unlogical reason). |

My brother-in-law flew GRU-AMS-ARN a while back. Shortly after take-off, a pax in Y was taken ill. The casualty was dragged into the WBC cabin and placed on the floor in front of seats 5DEF (yes, the pax seated there were moved first), where he expired. The aircraft diverted to GIG, where everybody was kept on board for some four hours. No food or drink was offered, and the WBC pax of course had to spend all that time in the company of a corpse.
The pax were finally disembarked after midnight, and booked into hotels. The flight was delayed indefinitely because of crew duty hour issues. My brother-in-law was traveling on a fully flexible J fare (± €4400), and could have rebooked himself on the next available flight, if it were not for the fact that KL were holding his luggage hostage, which they refused to unload. There was the usual dire paucity of information from KL, but in the event the flight departed about one day late, with the original crew, and with the previously almost empty WBC now packed with all five doctors who had pronounced the patient dead and their families, plus various elites who had been upgraded from Y as compensation for the delay. Needless to say, my brother-in-law arrived in ARN without his luggage, which only turned up two days later. He wrote a letter to KL, and received a cut-and-paste fob-off letter in reply. Today he gave KL Platinum Elite Customer Care in Sweden (there is indeed such a department, or at least person) a call, and was offered. . . wait for it . . .3000 miles in compensation! That, in my opinion, equals a slap in the face. Goes to show how greatly KL values the loyalty of a lifetime PE! Johan |

Mike, KLM managed to piss me off by wrongly refusing to acknowledge some miles due me. Upshot? I have given all my business to another group and have made top level with them. But it still ticks me off that no one has actually said Hey Tomco how come you dont fly with us any more you good looking sunafabeech etc etc? I have a few more translatlantics to make before the end of the year and could give them to KLM/NW. That way, I would ensure my 8th year as a plat (Is it worth hanging on for lifetime Johan)? Give it a go Mike and moan, nothing to lose, except your luggage of course.. |
its amazing this forum was once a ######## of mega flyers, I alone was averaging at least 140 flights ayear with KLM. The band of people on here never met but we all knew the ins and outs of flying klm.
Now its all about how do I get silver card and what to do to get extra miles from a bad trip. Accept it |KLM is dead |

To be frank, I'd say think about going for it..Now that semi retirement has kicked in for me..I'm looking to burn a lot of miles with the wife over the next few years, lounge access is worth it imo.

Asking for compensation is one (small) way of adding the tiniest bit of accountability to a company which operates in a largely accountability-free manner. Besides, the cabin crew is fed up with constantly having to offer apologies. for recently KLM has decreased the number of staff on board, meaning that the Purser has to do a manual job on the trolley and does not have the time to talk (eehhh... apology) to passengers any more. It is time KLM CFO starts thinking about another job, for KLM might very well be dying! |

Johan I can easily achieve PE as I am currently in Mexico setting up a new office (Yes Pat, more VSAT lnb's) KLM lost a lot of business from me through a small amount of pettiness on their part but I have this lingering fascination with their "Ways" and Skyteam is looking good for my region, especially when Copa comes on board. Other than that. I hope the oldies are OK......(Moaning gits) |
