Baggage Allowance
Good evening,
I am about to book a flight from LHR-YYZ. Now i know on the AMS - YYZ portion, I can take 2 pieces @ 23 KG each. What about the LHR - AMS portion? Am i allowed the 2 pieces? I was told Economy on KLM within Europe is only 1 piece. Thanks. |

Apart from that (AFAIK) the 20KG in Y (short-haul) is a weight limit - you're fine taking 2 pieces of hold bagage, as long as the total weight is up to 20 KG. |

Thanks for the info, although both my 2 pieces weigh just under 44 kg's total and there is no way i can reduce this. I guess its BA or AC then. |
I believe that as long as your bag is tagged through to Canada/US, the 2*23kg applies.
If you are making a stopover in AMS your bags will be tagged to AMS only, I'm not sure if then the 1*20 kg would then apply. And sometimes on the European sectors operated by a Cityhopper (not LHR) they are difficult with handluggage, especially if it's a trolley that does not fit in the overhead bin of Fokker 50/70. They won't charge you extra but may put it in the hold. |
I would not be stopping over in AMS, just in transit through to YYZ. Spending all but 2 hours im AMS.

It should be ok in that case

BTW what is your FB status ? as Elites/Elites + have increased baggage allowances.
Gate agents are also known to look the other way too ;) UTA |
I recently booked a LHR-YYZ via AMS flight on KLM and had the same concern. However, when I received my e-ticket, both legs said 2 pcs for the baggage rules. So hopefully we will both not have any problems with our luggage on the connecting flight.
