KL 2005 Punctuality & Regularity
According to the Association of European Airlines 2005 Consumer Report KL figures for 2005 were as follows:
Short Haul On time arrivals : 83.5%. Rank: 5th (out of 27 airlines) On time departures :78.7%. Rank: 18th. Regularity: 98.2%. Rank. 20th. (18 out of every 1,000 flights canceled). Long Haul On time arrivals : 80.7%. Rank: 2nd (out of 21 airlines) On time departures :75.3%. Rank: 6th. Regularity: 99.4%. Rank. 9th. (6 out of every 1,000 flights canceled). The fact that arrival punctuality is substantially better than departure punctuality, surely indicates that KL's schedules are well padded. Will be interesting to see how the figures will change when they start flying faster at the end of this month. Best performer by far : AY. Worst : OA. Johan |
There would be a lot to say about these figures.
Kudos to Turkish Airlines for its superb performance in the "missing baggage" list of winners (rank: 2), to be compared with its rather poor punctuality performance (% ontime arrivals, rank: 19). They probably delay the flights to make sure all baggage are on board... :D I'm a bit puzzled by the very poor performance of Europe's biggest carriers as far as missing baggage are concerned: Air France (rank: 20/25) British Airways (rank: 24/25) Lufthansa (rank: 22/25) KLM (rank: 25/25) :o Hub strategies drawbacks I guess (and yes, small is beautiful. Air Malta: 1, Tarom: 3, Icelandair: 4). That also questions Schiphol's spotless reputation to say the least. |
