Bye bye Flying Dutchman

With great sadness I say , bye bye flying dutchman . we all in the past loved this program which was truly "Generous by Nature" , Please all who look on this thead remember that platinum elites used to get miles earn on ALL fare types and partner airlines , and lounge access Irespective of airline flown(silver also has access ) , as upgrades which were pleniful for us plat ( former royal wing )and avalible on all fare types , 125% plat bonus and 100% business bonus intercontinetaly .......... :( those truly were the days.... And with the launch of FB Never forgive Air france for this!

Please all remember this the next time you book a ticket !

A sad memorial to the once great KLM program.... :(

Flying Dutchman was an excellent program with an evocative name and, IMHO, a harmless sense of humor coming from a well-meaning, slightly clumsy entity.

Perhaps was I more lucky than others, but came out ahead in all the mistakes made by the FD Helpdesk over the years, and never had my luggage misplaced by KLM

Farewell then, FD, and thanks to all this forum's members and moderator for making it the place it was.

The whole merger with AF was a BIG mistake.

I had hope untill the last minute that some of the changes, especially the miserable 50% bonus for intercont biz, would be rescinded and that FB would at least be compareable to other newly 'enhanced' programs in europe. But of course that did not happen. With the resulting FB a former FD member and KL loyalist can not be happy. You can be sure: I will remember to not buy my biz tickets anymore on skyteam flights...

So, with a little tear in my eye: Good bye FD, we both had a good time together...

And bye-bye to the KL forum...the natural home of the 'rolleyes' smiley :D

I'm going to miss the KL forum more than I'm going to miss FD... it was a nice little community, and things are never quite the same when two communities are merged.

Another farewell to FD, who had looked after me even when my business travel declined, and had the best FFP on paper..... and most of the time in practice as well.

Count me as another escapee, it's not possible to put up with the baggage loss rates and get no or few miles either.. along with all the other issues/problems with the new program :(

:D

Yes, we were quite generous using the smileys over the years.

Hopefully all the nice guys from the forum FD will continue to post on the new merged forum as well ^

I think for a lot it's bye bye forum & bye bye KLM

Sad but true. Not going to put miles into a program that wont let you spend them "anytime anywhere" without the need for them to charge double miles.

Will keep an eye on the Flying Poo forum in case of good suggestions though to use my stash of miles. At least I can now get into my account. ;)

Bye bye.

Farewell indeed FD, Live well in the lower regions of the discontinued FFP's!

I can now finally rest my case against the 'infamous KL Platinum Elite army', because with AF in the game, there will be no more rollovers for these guys and they will be a thing of the past soon.

Might i suggest that we invite Steve to do a writeup for this thread? His insights are always so illuminating ;)
