Does KLM do standby fares
I have a friend who will be in AMS over the Christmas period, who was thinking about going on somewhere else for a couple of days from AMS. She was just going to turn up at the airport, and see what could be had for standby - I tend to think she'll have to pay through the nose for the privilege of doing so, but couldn't say with certainty. Anyone ever tried to do this, or do they only sell full fare on day of departure?
Thanks for the help! |
-KLM: Check the "CLICK & GO" part on the dutch website.
(KLM tend to release Q & V class inventory few days before departure, so cheap fares may be available to a variety of destinations! -MARTINAIR: check the FLy-away fares. for example sometimes: AMS-CANCUN-AMS: EURO 300,- return (+taxes) (unfortunately sometimes they do not allow you to last-minute paid upgrade to Star Class with these fares. |
This is a good idea - there are a number of travel agents that sell last minute trips at Schiphol Airport - you can book on the spot (or a few days before) and get very good deals. Most of these include a hotel though and won't be on klm. Check the schiphol.com site where you can find some more info.

Years ago, KL sold something I believe they called "Dagvluchtjes". You could turn up at Schiphol, and they would sell you a cheap ticket to a destination of KL's choice, returning on the same aircraft. Given all the charges and taxes levied nowadays, such tickets would probably be prohibitively expensive.
