Lounge check-in with e-ticket?

Hey y'all!

I just have a quick question. I'm going from AMS to LIS next sunday (15/08) and would like to know if it's possible to check-in at the lounge with an e-ticket. I once read somewhere that customs won't let you through. Is this true?

Grtz,
Maurits

You are correct you wont get past security without a Boarding Pass (unless you have a Privium card ;) ).

Thanks for your very quick reply! Even though I quite often use AMS to fly from, I never enrolled in Privium before. I might look into that.

BTW, so basically what you're saying is that Privium members don't even have to travel at all? That's strange, and isn't it against the law in some way?

There are spot checks for BPs at the Privium security control from time to time. I don't know if it counts as breaking the law or not.

I haven't been asked for a boarding pass in the Privium line for ages. Last time they asked must have been well over a year ago, and I tend to fly once a week out of Schiphol at least. This applies to both the Schengen and non-Schengen lines. And yes, it means you don't have to fly. I once went through to meet some friends on who were passing through Schiphol, and did not want the hassle of going through immigration and customs. I have no idea whether this is illegal or not, but it's clearly not the intended modus operandi. It's not something I would rely on or try to do very often. The option is there...

Before it was possible to print KL boarding cards online, I used to go through security with a print-out of my e-ticket confirmation. Never a problem.

With an e-ticket, you can use the online check-in from 30 hours before the flight, or else the self-service check-in machines at Schiphol. Either way you avoid queues and get some choice of seat too.

Thanx guys!

Meanwhile I already bought myself a paper ticket, because KLM said I will be able to check in at the gate with my ticket. Hmm, maybe next time I'll try an e-ticket and see if that works as well...

Hey Maurits, Your signature shows that you are a member of NW World Perks and KLM Flying Ducthman? How did you manage that?

I think there is a small misunderstanding. I am only an FD member, but I can also earn miles on NWA (being a partner and all)... Anyway after having read and learnt so much on this forum I have decided to remove it from my profile in order to avoid future misconceptions. ;)

It is now too late for your 15/08 flight, but I checked in at the KLM Schengen lounge last Thursday with an e-ticket. I just showed the guy at security the print-out of my itinerary. No problems.

Thanks for the info! Same thing happened with me, so I just showed the immigrations officer my e-ticket receipt and it wasn't a problem.

Officially it's not allowed I read on their site.
But for Schengen flights I've seen many people waived through.
However, I don't understand why one would want to c/i in the lounge and get one of the last available seats instead of using the self service kiosk. At least there you can SEE which seats are available.
Better still, with an e-ticket check in online 30hrs before depature and get the seat you want. (although some posters here have trouble with it, I've read).

I was flying to LHR last Thursday and I couldn't check in at the selfserv machines (which so far have *never* accepted my FD card nor my passport  ) nor at the check-in desk because there was a plane change and the lady told me to wait. I told her I'd wait in the lounge and check in there.

Transit is the magic word my friend! I never use the transfer desks (at AMS sometimes far too crowded) so I just proceeded to the lounge
