Is there a Post Office inside Schiphol?
Need to mail a parcel Registered post to Holland this week when in transit.
Anyone know if there is a PO somewhere in there that will take parcels? |

Anyone know if there is a PO somewhere in there that will take parcels? With the expansion of the Schengen area it looks like they have built a second one down in departures lounge 1. Hope that helps! http://www.schiphol.nl/media/portal/..._lounges_1.pdf -- Dambus |
I've not used postal facilities at Schiphol for some time, but I think you'll be able to post a parcel at the postal facilities at the Communication Centre on the top level above the Lounge 2 area. I can't find an obvious direct link, but clicking on the Communication Centre link at http://www.schiphol.nl/portal/faciliteiten.jsp? suggests parcel post is available there.
There is (or was? possibly this might have been replaced by the Communication Centre?) also a small post office near the G pier in the Lounge 3 area. This still appears on this Schiphol terminal map but I don't recall if it's still there. Hope this helps - perhaps someone else here may have more up-to-date experiences. Edited to add that it looks like Kris Rao and Dambus do have more recent experiences, and just beat me to it. ^ |
You folks are amazing. Just what I needed to know. Many thanks. ^
Great airport pdf. :D We arrive on MH from KUL .. any idea what gates area they usually use? Will then pick the nearest PO to walk to. |
MH 'usually' arrives at the top end of the E Pier, on the right as you are walking down the pier from the main terminal. I can't remember the number but it always seems to arrive in the same area, then gets towed to a remote (if it can be called that) stand for a few hours before getting towed back in.

Thanks MAN Flyer - good news as that means IIRC to get to that PO upstairs around #2 is only a very short walk? ^
Seeing we arrive at 6.35, that wil be our only problem I think .. maybe getting there before it opens? |
I presume the only option for buying stamps / postage in AMS is now the "Service Point"?
Presumably nothing airside? https://www.schiphol.nl/en/at-schiph...service-point/ |
According to the PostNL Locatiewijzer, there are 4 outlets at Schiphol where you can purchase stamps.
And indeed they all appear to be landside, rather than airside. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...85a9158124.jpg While I remember that there used to be at least one postbox airside at Schiphol, it appears that the only postbox actually within the airport proper is on Schiphol Boulevard, which I believe is landside: (The number of postboxes in NL has reduced quite a lot in the last several years) https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4c174fe06e.jpg |
Shouldn't need to purchase physical stamps right?
If its a parcel, you pay for it at the Service Point when sending (don't be confused, it's a shop). If its a letter, you should be able to buy a stamp code online (https://www.postnl.nl/en/sending/letter-or-card/) If it is indeed only a letter, there's also a mailbox landside, iirc between arrivals 3 and the car rental offices (so not the alley next to burger king but one further) |
I started this thread 21 years back. Spooky to see it come to life again. :D
Used the very handy air side PO section several times back in those days, and indeed things like registered parcels were certainly accepted. I'd always mail (anonymously) a bottle of top end Grange Hermitage vintage red from Australia to a very helpful staffer at KLM/Air France Flyer program, with a simple 'Happy Birthday' card inside, who always performed MIRACLES with our award booking availabilities. First Class on Malaysian Air 747s Sydney to Europe and USA, every time etc, using just biz class award charts etc. There was some quirk in the system where that was possible with MH redemptions IF first seats were not fully booked. THOSE were the days. Almost no taxes or carrier fees either. I got about TWO MILLION free KLM/Air France points in the end due to some weird points and status matching KLM did to top elites of ANY other program decades back. All discovered here on FT of course. They kept on extending my top KLM status for years despite not spending a penny with them, and then at some point when merging or whatever with Northwest Airlines multiplied all FD points by 1.7 or something to make them par for par. It was like the airline Promo of all time! https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/klm-...ileage-11.html https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/amer...tml?styleid=22 "That's why, both for new and existing members, we will adopt and match the service level and award points you have earned in any other airline loyalty program when you enroll for this special action in KLM's Flying Dutchman program." One time he asked if we'd like to take a cab and inspect the operations which were nearby when he saw he had a 5 hour layover. Unknown to us then, he RAN the entire operation. And walked us through the multi story building. He is long retired now, so I can tell this story. :D https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/klm-...ileage-11.html |
