Multi city ticket

I am trying to book klm from Canada to Spain, one way returning Singapore to Canada. There are flights available, but the web site keeps defaulting to Canada Spain return. Is there a reason I cannot book a multi city itinerary? Thanks.

You are attempting to combine fares, which are not combinable. You can buy a ticket from Canada to Europe, but combining with a return from Asia is just not possible. You could split your destination and return point within Europe, or within Asia, but not between them.

You'll need to buy a one-way ticket for both routes.

And it's not just AFKL.

Google can find no airline that would sell you two such disparate routes on a single ticket (which, when you think about it, is entirely logical; the "normal" traveller isn't going to be able to, or wish to, make their way the 7,000+ miles from Spain to Singapore by some other means (or on some other ticket) such that any airline could reasonably expect anyone to actually be interested in buying such an itinerary)

Talking about multi-city tickets.
I'm looking for a flight to Peru. Outbound WAW-XXX-LIM and inbound CUZ-LIM-XXX-WAW.

Google flights is showing me a flight by KL via BOG. It redirects to the KLM site where it's bookable. This flight does not show at KL or AF site when searching for the same itinerary. There are however many other options.
When searching via ITA matrix, AF/KL don't come up with any option. Only flights with Swiss, Avianca, United etc. Any idea why? Is ITA matrix not capable of connecting non-ST to ST flights?

ITA Matrix doesn't normally display such itineraries automatically. You will need to use advanced codes to force it to use KL/AF as the second/third connection. This usually works.

The KL/AF websites don't always show all these itineraries either. You either have to go in via Google Flights, or call in to book.

Note: it would probably be far cheaper to just buy a standard WAW-LIM return. Then book a separate CUZ-LIM flight that gets you back to Lima in ample time for your return flight - I'd advise arriving the night beforehand.

Thx, didn't know that about ITA matrix. Will give it a try.
Going in via Google flights works, I was just surprised that those flights can't be found directly.

I know, returning a day earlier would be the safest solution, but I would like to spend an additional night in Cusco. I'll probably take the outbound flight via BOG, then the inbound will be on the same ticket so protected. I only read on another forum that transferring in BOG is not that easy, you have to go through immigration? Can someone here confirm that?

They will! See post#6 above, and the following:

I’m the original poster. Canada to Spain, returning from Singapore to Canada. Air Canada will sell me this combo, but not KLM or Air France.

In my experience, Air Canada is among the most flexible carriers in what combinations they allow, and Air France KLM is one of the worst ones, so I'm not really surprised here. AFKL refuses even far more reasonable combinations than this.

Yesterday I found WAW-AMS-LIM/CUZ-LIM-CDG-WAW resonably priced, so booked that one. No stopover in BOG or PTY and protected on the way back for only 200 EUR extra. The refundable ticket CUZ-LIM costed some 80 EUR, so not a bad deal. I'm only worried about the AMS-LIM leg with KL cancelling so many flights lately. But we'll see.

In addition I should get the +20% bonus miles since the ticket is booked in June.

on FR24 I have not noticed any cancellation of AMS-LIM over the last months. In any case, KL would likely rebook you in such a scenario onto WAW-CDG-LIM or if it is short notice and there is limited availability, any other flight through PTY, BOG (or even MIA,ATL in case this works from a Visa-perspective).
