Checked or Carry-on Luggage

Would like to get input from this forum if it is better to check luggage or carry-on when flying from Schiphol to the US. We are flying Business Class with United Airlines in mid-August from AMS to ORD at 11:00 am. We will not be able to get to the airport before 8:30 am and have concerns based on what I have been reading that this may not be enough time to catch our flight. I would appreciate any suggestions to try to expedite our way through security.

The period of free-wavers now as per KLM website is 17-26 June. My itinerary includes a departure on 24th but return on 28th, so not sure if that confuses the system?
By the way, this is now fixed for me. While the message above remains (i.e. if higher fare type, difference is charged) once you proceed, 0EUR is quoted to change the flights.

I am wondering, are these changes unlimited? Or is only the first change for free? How smart is their IT?

For info, after calling reservations I was told that I can change the booking without needing to pay the fare difference and change fee. There is an issue with the website.

You can say that again. It's not only the travel time, but also the wait for the shuttle. The frequency is not always that high.

The onsite hotels do offer another advantage to those who travel light in winter: you can dispense with all the heavy winter garb when traveling to summery destinations.

Sorry if this has been posted before:

Whoops: got the date confused with Schiphol's warning banner.
Thanks Xandrios for the right check!

First foreign airline victim due to slot restrictions:

Easyjet announces cancellations
- instead of selling ticket at 97% capacity, this will be reduced to 90%
- this comes extra besides present cancellations to Gatwick & Luton airports

Another background story about how leadership thinks as an overdrive ostrich.

Dutch Parool:
https://www.parool.nl/amsterdam/klm-...w.google.nl%2F

The unshaken belief that transit passengers at Schiphol have nothing to fear:

* shaking my head *

Leadership seems to have no active memory of:

+capacity restrictions,
+staff redeployment across departures & arrivals
+ Kmar passportcontrol / e-gates /
+transit security staff /
+luggage handlers /
+runway refurbishments /
+ linmited groundstaff
all that balances on a giant scale,
ready to tip over,
maybe helped by wrong wind directions or the occasional summer thunder storm.....

They seem to forget the last time begining of June,

Interesting - for me it still quotes a (substantial) price difference.

Useless signs at Schiphol
(I just received it from a friend who expects to miss his flight after queueing for 2.5 hours (so far))

So the only airline that does not make any difference for the queues at T1-T3.

(Yes yes I can imagine some staff can be saved at M and deployed at the other checkpoints, but still)

Non-Schengen Easyjet flights use T3 security.

Data point June 20

Sky team silver - AMS - YUL

Went to sky priority, check in 9/10 area, as advised here. I was allowed to enter with my non status partner. Same PNR.

But at bottom of stairs/escalator at back to security, staff would not let partner through. She just said “you can go alone”. Obviously I did not do that. She said priority security wait is under 20 minutes. Ugh.

So off to regular security we went, 2h 12m later we were through. Generally fine, a few folk who clearly did not allow for wasting 2h in line, were very stressed.

now drinking wine.

Amateurism! Despicable!

Slotcoördinator will not inform airlines today about restrictions but later this week.....
Who in turn will inform passengers the next week following......

***ahum : interesting as 7th July is already in 2 weeks

---------
I bet airlines operating more than 1x a day frequencies might be asked to cancel flights.
In my mind concerning T3 this could mean impact on TK and BA...
