Since KL was double the price, I'll be flying this weekend with LO. I have *G, but my daughter has no status with *A, so we have to use the regular line
But there is not much going on in this tread so I assume the horror is over now. Did you notice the waiting lines for normal pax, any estimation for a Sunday around noon?

All of my travel over last few months, the non-prio line was negligible. Even the week before Christmas it was but a couple minutes long.

From reading this thread it does sound like things are getting back to normal, but I've got a couple of questions if anyone can help.

I'll be flying through on the 10th of February with my family, I am platinum but they've not got any status. Thanks to a multitude of schedule changes we've got a whopping 9.5 hour layover to enjoy (from UK, to BKK) Previously we would have just jumped on the train or bus to the centre and gone for a drink, meal and look around, and then returned, skipped through the priority lane and been done... but...

Are they still denying entry until 4 hours before your flight? We would be looking to come back before that and rest up in lounge 52.

Have they relaxed the sky priority access? Am i likely to be able to go through thr SP checkin area and proceed up the stairs with my family in tow?

Is all of this unknown as I think Friday 10th might be the start of half term holidays in the Netherlands and therefore it might be really busy?

Oh, and what is the state of the UK passport queues?

Thanks

Last I checked prio access was still enforced. I won't be able to check for you, I will not depart AMS before 10th. However non-prio waiting times are short.

4 hour checks are not done anymore and anyway could easily be circumvented.

UK passports now queue with non-EU so depending on time of the day could take some time (but no massive waits have been reported lately)

FWIW the first region having voorjaarsvakantie will start on February 18th, so on the 10th you'll be alright.

9h in the lounge sounds absolutely awful, leave the airport and come back later, it'll be ok.

I would say that the queues I've seen recently have been passport control rather than security - though I've been routinely flying out late which is less busy. Seen a couple of queues at entry control, but probably not more than 30 minutes or so. Still glad to have Privium though. The Wife hasn't reported big queues either, but hasn't been through the border.

9 hours would be totally fine though, so I wouldn't think twice about popping into town unless the weather was godawful.

Thanks for feedback

We'll land and drop off the hand luggage in the lounge then head straight down town, and leave a good few hours for getting back.

I'll give the SP a line try and feedback on thr outcome... perhaps as a family group with children they might take pity

Fyi there are also lockers at the airport for bagage... 9 hours plenty of time to go into town. You can also take a direct bus 397 to Leidseplein iso train
There are currently no lines at all ( max 10 min non priority)
Customs can take some time
Have a safe trip

Good luck with the SP line BobbyDavro . There are certainly notices reinforcing that the benefit only applies to the individual but as you say, it’s worth a punt. But I’d allow some extra time just in case that doesn’t work.

More generally tho, Schiphol is much improved and you would certainly have time for a comfortable trip to the city. Arriving passport lines for non EU resudents can be lengthy tho. Have a good trip. Gr. Fritz

Just flew back via Schiphol on Sunday. As we were transferring, we noticed that there was a very long line for arrivals. People were being let through in batches, and in some places even held in batches with barriers. There might be travel in and out of Schiphol in my near future, and I have Privium, which should let me through the border much faster. But I am wondering if anyone here knows how to avoid these controlled lines, some of which start at the piers themselves, to get access to the Privium booths?

It's all the airside area, so it's not like by walking along the queue you're obviously skipping it [which you anyway have the right to do because Privium] - so I'd wander to the stairs [D,F piers] or one-way passages [E,G piers] and wave the card at whoever they have shepherding the line. If you don't want to do that, you could always walk a bit further and try one of the other airside exits.

IME they're pretty good at having a Privium line available, though I've not had to deal with any massive airside queues since 2019 or so [when I didn't have access myself].

Worst case scenario enter Schengen via transfer control and then leave airside through baggage claim.

I've considered this about two times but since there the queue was not really short, decided to take the regular way out (at the time still at E gates, believe they opened now passport control down the D-gates again). Do they allow you to pass passport control NS -> S airside if you do not have a boarding past for a Schengen flight? I never tried.

I don't remember that I ever had to show my BP when going NS -> S at AMS.
