They definitely are. These camera have a kick that smartphones are still missing. Thanks for feeding the thread, too!

AMS - CPH this afternoon

-

Very uncommon take-off from RWY 18C (i.e. Zwanenburgbaan in a southerly direction). Can't recall the last time, if there was one. The poor sods who landed on the Polderbaan had the longest possible taxi to the terminal, all the way around the northern tip of 18C/36C.

Short final to CPH Rwy 22L. Flakfortet. Miserable weather.

Atlantic sunset, probably somewhere between Greenland and northern Canada. (Really, this time.)

Last time capsule from the Old World. Flying a 777, long haul to Asia. Who would have thought it would become a worthy memory ?

Hibiscus Resort, Malaysia, April 2020.

KUL approach.

Golden Oldie: AMS-NUE, Convair CV-240-4, PH-CEK "Johannes Vermeer", September 1955

The camera was probably a cheap Kodak or so; the negatives vanished over half a century ago; I used my cheap cell phone camera to take a pic of the original, so . . . the quality sucks. It is what it is, but I figure it is of some historical interest.

Amsterdam Zuid. Really keen-eyed Amsterdammers may recognize the Rivierenlaan (now the President Kennedylaan), the Rooseveltlaan and a very barren Westerscheldeplein (now Europaplein) before the new RAI Convention Center was built.

Here are a couple on approach to NCE from August 2021. Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is clearly visible.

We flew south over the Mediterranean, then turned 180 to fly north and then turn over Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, visible here.

Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. There is an amazing walk all the way around the Cap (4h)

AMS - JNB, November 2018

The wetter part of Chad, north of N'Djamena. Possibly Lake Chad itself.

That place makes for an amazing visit, even if you're not into gardens and suchlike. But the best is the trail that hugs the shore. If you read German you can get a detailed route description from the Nice Cte d'Azur Book on rother.de. For each guide they offer a random free tour, and for that book the free tour is the walk around Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.

Thanks for the tip!

I am into gardens and suchlike, and I do read German (the great thing about reading that language is that one need not worry about the grammar). I shall keep Rother at the back of my mind for the next time I head that way.
