I don't disagree with you on the seats, but catering wise I do. I have to say it's been a few years that I had Y catering on a DL flight, but never forgot that for breakfast they gave a 'Yakult' and a banana. Flew one of the first A350 flights from AMS to ATL and C catering was average at best. KL isn't that great either, but I do rate them higher. For instance for the ability to get a soup option and the snacks.

Flew AMS-YYZ Economy last week - no hot meal, only bag of snacks containing can of coke, bottle of water, two tangerines, 2 tiny bags of some sort of corn chips, two stroopwafels, two sticks of biscuits and some sweets. Even though I had a sandwich at the non-Schengen lounge before departure, I was still very hungry by the end of the flight. Bag of snacks on an ~8hr longhaul is torture 😭 I hope KLM bring back hot meals soon.

KLM did serve from the cart this morning on AMS-CDG. The little snack and coffee or tea. The cart was not loaded with any other beverage.

It was similar for me this morning on another European flight with KLM, but with a larger beverage service (juice, water, etc., didn't ask for alcohol). Felt like full service again!

Seems like service is a bit random.
