Is there any update on this? In February 2020 the KLM CEO said it will be launched "within a year." Obviously that didn't occur. Any info on any aircraft mods occurring?

The only fairly recent article I was able to find is half a year old and mostly speculation. Q2 2022 is mentioned.

Finally some information has come out from KLM sources on the introduction of Premium Comfort;

1. First 787-10 will come with new seating in summer 2022
2. Its expected that by end 2023 all 777/787 fleet will have Premium Comfort and new WBC seating
3. WBC will have aisle acces and all seats will be similar to the b 787-10 C class seat
4. Premium will have 21-28 seats depending on aircraft
5.Separated area, , reclining seat( not specified) footrest
6. 2 Fllight attendants which will receive online training from march onwards
7 . Economy comfort zone will be available as well
Still bit vague but they are working and investing in their product.
Edit , 8. 2 pieces checked luggage and Sky Priority services will be part of the package to attract passengers
Aircraft will be refitted 1 by 1, however the 3 new b 787-10 currently still in the US will have already the new seating/cabin lay out
A330 fleet will NOT be reconfigured, asthese aircraft will leave fleet within next years

There seem to have been some internal comms within KL, as their regional manager for the Caribbean + Surinam also pointed out a couple of hints to journalists today (https://nu.cw/2022/02/04/premium-com...-abc-eilanden/)

Freely translated as the seat being different from economy, unspecified 'more' recline, 7.5cm more leg space compared to economy comfort.
Again no word about Airbuses .

And.. what I've noticed from earlier KL events and chats with staff, all employees seem to be pretty happy with the new class. As a passenger, given the experience at AF, I don't copy that (yet).

I’m assuming that they will reduce the number of economy seats, in accordance with the AF three class layout? Does that make sense?

It makes sense because they will increase the revenue and yield with the new W class.

And it’s great to hear that B777 will be retrofitted with the B787-10 WBC seat.

I tried a dummy booking in December on klm.nl, however the seats/class is not loaded in the reservation system. Any news about this?

If it's not going to be until 2023, I doubt the systems will be set-up to take into account the new seats yet.

An update was published today on Luchtvaartnieuws (link below) about the new WBC:
  • KLM passengers will soon be able to look forward to extra privacy in the completely renewed World Business Class in the Boeing 777.
  • The 777 will have direct access to the aisle after the retrofit of the Business seats and will also be fitted with a sliding door, so that more privacy is created, the seats will also be slightly wider.
  • KLM also announced earlier this summer that it would introduce a Premium Economy product under the name 'Premium Comfort'. It will come on board the 777 and 787 and will be unveiled at the end of May. Both planes will therefore soon have three travel classes: Economy (including the Economy Comfort product), Premium Comfort and World Business Class.
