Cancelling Part of a KLM Reward Ticket

  • Collective wisdom sought please.

    Due to a change in plans I need to cancel the return part of the below itinerary leaving the outbound in place.
    Business class reward.
    I rang today to do this and after some conferring the agent came back to me and said it would be 50 euros per px which i expected. She then however said that she advised me to do it after flying the outbound as that would be better for KLM. It seemed an odd response. She said she would make a note in the booking.
    I thought that you could only cancel prior to the outbound?
    Should i ring back or is she right?

You are correct.

Call back and hope for a more competent agent.

Point them at 3.5 of their T&Cs if they give you the same guff again.

I have cancelled an award economy ticket the day before I flew and booked a promo award in Business the same day on the original flight.

But it if you are sure cancel it. If you do it via the phone ask to have the phone fee waived.

I have rung three times now and had the same answer from all three agents: 1. If we cancel now the whole trip has to be cancelled and then the outbound rebooked which will cost a huge amount more in miles. 2. All three have suggested to cancel once the outbound has been taken and all three reassure me miles and taxes will then be refunded minus the 50 euros each......I have sent a message on facebook so that i have this in writing....
