KL696 - YYZ-AMS - Cancelled - Jan 24
Just got notification from KLM that my flight from YYZ-AMS for tomorrow was cancelled. Have been rebooked on Delta, but anyone have any idea why flight was cancelled?

The outbound rotation KL695 has been cancelled, so there is no aircraft to return as KL696.
And why was that flight cancelled? I do not know. However, as the flight operates only twice a week [don't forget - there's a daily KL691/2 on the route, too, as well as a daily flight operated by their partner Jet Airways], it seems at least possible that the numbers booked didn't justify its operation. |
Looks like that flight is generally operated by a 772. KL is currently down a 772 as PH-BQO sat here in YYC for a few days with "hail damage". (?) |
Surely, any second flight in one day to a NA destination in January (and on a Thursday) will have a light load, so no wonder that this flight is cancelled if KLM is short of 1 aircraft now.

KLM seems to be short two 777's. Delta has taken over a flight to ATL until 5FEB. Nice detail: KLM will still provide WBC PAX with a Delft Blue house on the DL flight.
