KLM "O" Booking class questions

Hi guys and gals,

I've seen a few KLM discounted Business Class fares , but the long-haul segment books into O class.

Per Delta these fares earn ziltch or 0 miles. Same with other SkyTeam programs per WhereToCredit.com
Are these something new at KLM?

Seems like the LH or ET P class fares which doesn't credit to many programs....

Please merge or delete thread if the question has been asked before...

It's not new, O has been used for revenue tickets for some time now (months if not more?)

If you are in the FB program, for KL flights you always should get XP and miles based on costs of the ticket (as opposed to carriers that have booking classes that give you 0).......

I have similar questions. I have booked a KL OPRAU fare with legs:

BNE ICN KL9163 (KE124) class D
ICN AMS KL856 class O
AMS MRS KL1265 class J

AMS HKG KL887 class O
HKG BNE QF98 class I

My preferred SkyTeam FF plan is now KE. I guess I can put my KE number into the BNE ICN leg and the AMS MRS legs, keaving KL for the O class legs. Can I change these myself online somehow or do I need to do it via my agent before departure, or at checkin? How will it affect the KL miles if I do so? (KL miles awarded now seem hard to determine in advance. The ticket is on KL stock.)

All very confusing. KE miles are better for me than KL because they last longer. I don't fly SkyTeam much, so KL miles tend to expire unless I donate them to charity.

Only use your KE number. Complete all travel - both the outbound and the return - and wait until all sectors have posted to your KE account.

Only then should you launch a missing mileage claim in Flying Blue for the "O" sectors in order to claim miles in Flying Blue for those.

Always let the miles post naturally where they go; once that process is complete, go and chase up the "missing" miles in your second/alternative programme

Sorry to ask a silly question but I booked a cheap klm flight in business in 'o'. Because the fare is so cheap it probably won't earn anything? Are there any FB programs not revenue based for mile accumulation? I'm more familiar with one world and star alliance. But being European based, normally the ticket cost isn't considered.

It will earn in Flying Blue at the rate of 4 miles per € for account holders without status.

There is only one Flying Blue programme, and for flights on AF and KL, it's completely revenue based.

If you meant are there any Skyteam programmes that are not revenue based, the majority of them are not. However, there you run into the trouble of not earning anything on a KL "O" fare.

I'm sure when I checked the Delta website some months ago it didn't mention any credit for O fares but now it does mention 100% (and for flights from Jan 1st, 2018 onwards). Does anyone know for certain that this is the case and if it's a recent change?

It is a relatively recent change, O is no longer an award-only booking class, but a proper revenue class.

That's probably a question that has been covered over in the Delta Skymiles forum.

It's always best to ask/look in the forum dedicated to your program, rather than posting regarding your program's handling of a separate airline in that separate airline's FFP forum.

Yes, searched again and now found a thread where this is mentioned! thanks
