Almost all departures/arrivals suddenly delayed 1-2 hours, no more information.
Any idea what is going on ??

"Schiphol airport: replied on FB that the delays are due to weather. I have to say I can't see much beyond a light rain...

Almost the entire country is under a code orange weather warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain and hail (up to 2cm in diameter)

I have never heard thunder quite like this - there is an almost continuous rumbling in the skies.

Here's the main page of the Royal Meteorological Service website - check out the number of lightning strikes

Interesting - I can't see any of that here at Schiphol. beyond some rain.
For some reason some flights continue to take off, some flights are delayed, quite a few are cancelled....

If the sky is reasonably clear in one direction, limited flight ops might be possible... but I'm not surprised if not at full capacity.

I don't know about Schiphol but here in The Hague it was pretty thundery indeed.
