KLM Y is pretty good most of the time, though food portions, while pretty okay, may be on the smaller side.

And while the 747 is a beauty, in Y I think it is the worst of the fleet (very old, especially the entertaimment systems, and no power or USB outlets). In J it is better than all except for the dreamliner.

Nono, that would be the non-retrofitted A330 series. Small screens, IFE boxes blocking part of your legroom at the window seats..

747 is pretty good imho

Does KL operate a split pax/cargo 747 on that route? Not that is makes any difference, just curious.

from the seat map it looks like the full pax one.
they don’t have too many of them left so I hope I enjoy
my ‘old-school’ experience !

KL also has a B787 on the AMS<->YYZ route, if the screen size is relevant to your flight experience. The KL YYZ->AMS at 17:15 is on the B787.

I think I will stick with the 747, I will miss the old girl when she's gone!

Don't know how you get there. The seat is identical to the 777, but the IFE is way worse - it's awful! The lower deck is very spacious and has those 3 standalone seats, but the upperdeck is cramped and looks very old so evens out. 777 is at least as good if you ask me. Probably better due to the IFE.

I haven't used IFE in years, so for some that may not be a huge issue. I do find the cabin atmosphere very nice on the 787.

Whether the 17:15 departure is a 747 or 787 depends on the day of the week. The days when there is one departure a day it tends to be a 747, and otherwise a 787.

Yes, there's even an onboard shower at seat 25J/K... Granted, it's more of a trickle than a full shower
