Priority security at BCN?
Does anyone know if there is priority security at BCN for SkyPriority passengers travelling in Y? The SkyPriority finder says there is priority security but only for F and C customers, but I don't trust the SP finder at all, so I'm hoping anyone knows from experience.

There is a new fully seperate Fast Track channel that does not mix with the regular line. Your boarding pass will be scanned to confirm access. But if you see the regular line empty (=unlikely as we approach high season) you may in fact be better off taking that one. Because if you have 10 people in Fast Track with one belt open versus 30 in regular with 10 belts open, the regular line will move faster, as I have personally witnessed on a recent journey. |
You need to pass by check in first to get access to fast track (at least that is what I remember, because generally I just don't bother - security rarely has lines at BCN at the times when I fly).

Not needed in my experience. You can just scan your BP.
As I said, haven't bothered since then... |

Good to know. I do remember being given something to be able to go through the priority lane at least once in the past. But that could have been two years ago, and I believe it was AF/KLM but could have been AZ.
As I said, haven't bothered since then... With Alitalia you are given a paper pass if there is a problem with the system recognizing your FB status, which has happened to me today. |
With KL/AF you can just scan the BP as it recognizes your status.

When the new fast track channel works well at BCN, it works really well as no regular passengers can be "merged" into the line, as happens in some airports. BCN is enjoying a record-breaking year with terminal 1 fast heading towards capacity, especially during the peak summer period, which makes Fast Track all the more valuable. |

A bit premature, given that almost the entire south wing of the building (C gates) is empty most of the time. If other parts of the terminal (check in, security...) are already reaching their limit now, it only confirms how badly this terminal is designed.
Longer term, some carriers might need to move over to T2, and Ryanair might need to be pushed back to Girona, where it used to have a much stronger presence. More info here: http://www.lavanguardia.com/local/barcelona/20161113/411819362286/aeropuerto-el-prat-limite-capacidad.html |
