In my limited experience as a very occasional VIP Center user, you are driven to the gate, take the stairs up to the jetway, your driver/escort takes your boarding card to gate itself to get you boarded, and then returns it to you.

This may well be different for the truly high and mighty. I was once stopped in the middle of the jetway while a decrepit prince struggled up the stairs, and then proceeded straight on board. I'm sure everything was taken care of for him, he never saw his boarding card.

In my experiences (transfers), I have been asked for my boarding pass at the lounge, which has then been returned to me 10 min later. I have always been driven straight to the aircraft, with my boarding pass never being scanned at the gate.

Boarding a passenger manually is a question of a couple keystrokes. A call to the gate to say pax XY seq 023 is boarding as VIP is the least can be done.

Based on recent experience, how long in advance do you currently need to book (direct) the VIP Centre to be successful right now? Or do most folks book via Centurion etc.?

I booked around a month in advance for Thursday just gone. I have to say we had the most incredible experience, just blown away! We were doing AMS-LHR-SAN and had been unable to do online checkin due to BA’s crappy / broken IT not coping with connecting flights, despite us having the green light from Verifly.

Our luggage was whisked away the moment we arrived and we were shown to a beautiful private lounge of our own - they have around 12 of them, plus the Royal Suite. Could not fault a thing, the best bit was having our own dedicated Centre representative who sorted out all our doc admin and passed us our boarding passes, then being ushered through the private security channel and driven to plane! They also bring the guys to you to do passport checks / stamps. Not cheap I know but this was actually funded by a cancelled EasyJet flight that we had refunded and EC261’d which netted us Ł604! Here’s a few pics 😀

jimkwatson : thanks for the update!
Much appreciated to see the photos....
Glad your journey went without a snag....

Seems they did some refurbs as it looks very colourful!
My only time at the VIP-centre was in 2015 when they were also very efficient but the place looked a bit like a morgue.
Good to see the money is well spent!

I'm going to book Executive as it allows me to select my dates in a few months where's VIP Terminal emails have gone unanswered.

How easy are they to contact if flights get changed or cancelled? I expect it to be refundable if given enough notice? There are no terms on the website.

There’s no money to pay up front, they take payment when you’re there, the amount exactly in line with the prices PDF on their website. For us it was just before we were driven to the aircraft.

I think you misunderstand.

There are in Terminal Meet & Assist services and separate VIP Terminal services. The latter I cannot book as the webform has been replaced with an email address that remains unanswered. They also do not currently answer the phone.

The standard Terminal M&A is prepaid online as is standard across most airports.

Would their be a big advantage with booking the Meet & Assist for an upcoming TATL flight in J originating in AMS? We will have access to the sky priority lines, not sure if the Schipol meet & assist simply funnels people into the sky priority lines or has a separate set of lines that would be faster.

You skip all lines. No question of its value.

I have booked arrival.

For departure you usually call them on approach and they meet your car. If arriving by other means they would tell you where to meet them.
