Flight schedule changes

:td:Bought KLM flight from Nice to Amsterdam 9-months ago which was originally due to leave at 12:20. Received at least 5 notices of time changes by e-mail but decided to check with the KLM office in Nice to determine the most recent ETD as I had been on the road without my computer for nearly a month.
When I asked the KLM officer the ETD due to so many time changes she replied "why did KLM change the departure time"? Like I would know!

Silly question indeed (but maybe it wasn't meant as a serious question, and she was just being chatty?)... but if you booked a flight nine months ago then two time changes (but not five!) would have been the norm as airline schedules change twice a year, in October and April, and your ticket was bought before the October timetable change. (Some flight timings "survive" any number of timetable changes, but you can normally expect at least a minor change every April and October)

European airlines do not change that much their schedule. US airlines are terrible for their domestic flights. They change constantly (even for 2 or 3 minutes...ridiculous) as well their flights numbers.

My experience (with the flights that I take regularly) is that they do change every six months - just the timings, not the flight numbers. One of my most regular flights, KL1506, moved from something like 1005 to 1100 and then back to 0950, all within a year (and has moved by between a few minutes and an hour at every timetable change for as long as I can remember)

But I can well imagine that it's worse in the USA!

I noticed it too - departure of KL flights between FCO and AMS changed but not major. However, departure times of some of the Intercontinental flights have shifted much more (at the least the last two I took): AMS to IAD from around 14:00 to 12.30 and to Accra from around 13:00 to 15:00. Not minor!

It is worth logging in with your FF # and check your reservations a few days before leaving!

Same for ATH. KL1575 moved from 9:25 to Noon. Horrible timing!
