Changes to KLM Y catering?

Just flew back from ATH on KL1576 and for the first time was offered a warm meal. I havent seen this been posted here before, so I though I should.

Before the double-sandwich was offered (Krentebol / broodje kaas). On a 3+ hour flight this really did not suffice, but oh well, its what KL has offered for the past years.

Today they came round with spicy asian chicken wraps. Very tasty, and did I mention, hot? :P

A woman a row behind me was vegetarian. They dont have alternatives - just chicken in this case. She was offered (part of?) the Europe Business meal.

Presentation was (of course, in KLM fashion) worthless... basically in a clear plastic wrapper and no utensils offered.

Hm, pretty weak they don't offer an alternative, or the option for a VEG meal on intra-Europe flights.
Honestly I don't have any problem with the food being served in a plastic wrapper in economy though. Do you expect a plate or something?

Back in 2004, there were "hot cheese sandwiches" on the Athens route...

I flew AMS-LIS last weekend and got a hot (and very decent) "sesame bun cheesehamburguer", followed by a carrot cake. Finally a proper enhancement!

Took a mid-day shorthaul last week, and the served the usual cookie-thing and savory-thing. As it was lunchtime, I would have expected sandwiches (not that I would have eaten one), but KL must have defined meal times is such a way ast to keep catering costs to an absolute minimum.

The cookie/savory concept is brilliant. I have noticed that a lot of pax around me decline the offering outright, and others who ask what they are being served often get answers beginning with "I think it is" or "It is some sort/kind of", implying that the FA has never tasted these products herself, nor would she ever consider doing so.

Was it on your usual AMS-CPH (or vice versa?) Not sure if these relative short flights get upgraded catering.

It depends if you like a fastfood style meal in the air. Personally I don't (but ofcourse that's a personal taste). I prefer the sandwiches, which I really like (if I get one).

Yep! How did you guess?

The flight may be short, but surely they serve sandwiches at "meal" times?
