Many things can be said about this topic, but this is just a rumour indeed. A friend is manager at an outstation, and I can assure you that this is not true and completely against the ethics and business model of KLM.

Please remember that this thread is on buy-ups at OLCI and not on the upgrading of non-rev's.

I just got offered the BizClass upgrade for 79EUR at CheckIn for a flight to HAM on Friday.
Current price is 79EUR, I'll check again tomorrow.

Flight availability looks like I'll wait for the OpUp:
JL CL DC IC ZC OC YL SC BC MC UC KC HC LC QC TC EC NC RC VC XC GC WC
For J, C and L the flight is waitlisted, every other booking class is already closed. And it looks somewhat similar for the return on Sunday:

J9 CL DC IC ZC OC YL SC BC MC UC KC HC LC QC TC EC NC RC VC XC GC WC
Still selling full fare class seats, everything else is closed.

EDIT: Seems that a few hours after checkin opened, they are starting to sell seats again:
Outbound:
J4 C4 D4 I3 Z4 O3 Y4 B3 M3 U0 K2 H0 L0 Q0 T0 E0 N0 R0 X1 G0
So probably no OpUp but the ability to buy the upgrade for 79EUR is still being offered.

EDIT2: At T-3h30m the ability to buy an upgrade has disappeared. The OLCI Seatmap still shows 11 open seats but availability is 0 in all buckets according to Expertflyer... Funky...

Nope. ERJ190-100, as initially planned. Was sitting in the exit row on a full flight...

Just got offered 119 EUR to sit up front on the 1979 AMS - BUD.
Declined and sneaked the exit row instead (20 EUR).

And again, BUD - AMS on the 1978. 119 EUR for C.
Declined again.

179 is a bit steep for a meal on a ~2 hour flight, a newspaper and lounge access (if you're not Elite+).

Hi all,

Was offered a buy-up on AMS-ATL last week for USD 396 (+/- E290).

And yes, this then booked me into Z class, with the resulting 125% EQM.

Cheers,

GenevaFlyer

I think it is a very interesting operation, for the Pax and the Company.
