I believe that's corrrect.

I have a large number of colleagues who all regularly fly a specific longhaul route. I've never seen an OLCI upgrade offer for group bookings, only when they are booked singly.

AMS-MNL tomorrow. No ugrades offered to a group of five on one PNR.

I suspect that J is almost full, they are only offering one seat for sale.

Not sure about OLCI (and maybe none at all if the flight routes via Curacao or Aruba), but staff seem to be very open to make good deals at the c/i desk in the airport. I was told this while on Bonaire, and succesfully tried it myself - until they realised that their was a special meal in our booking and the C availability had suddenly "disappeared". I can`t recall the amount but I remember is was attractive.

So go for c/i early and at least ask!

AMS->LYS, two Plat members got offered on-board 19800 miles to go from Economy to European Business. As it is usually offered for 79€, that would make 0,40 cent per mile: not so bad, but quite useless for a 1h40 flight.

How did you find out about these options, did you see these during OLCI or at check-in at the airport?

bussines was full, economy was empty. There where even rows of 4 not used by people.

and the red coloured huisje was a nice gesture for X-mas!

On 21st December I was flying XMN - AMS. At OLCI business class was full so no chance of an upgrade. However, at the airport I was told that there had been some late cancellations and I was offered an upgrade for 71,000 FB points. As this was a 12 and a half hour flight I accepted and was given seat 1K. Incidentally, at the Sky Priority check-in in Xiamen my boarding pass and luggage tag were pre-printed and waiting for me on arrival. I had not seen this before and don't know if this is a more general enhancement or something particular to Xiamen.

So they assigned you 1K before you actually agreed on paying 71.000 miles? Was it on KL or Xiamen Air?

No, I agreed to the upgrade first and then they gave me seat 1K; whether they had anticipated my agreement and pre-assigned me I do not know. It was on KLM.

What is your status?

I had something similar in Dar es Salaam this summer where I really had the idea if I did not had paid for the upgrade, I would have had it for free as the flight was full.
