Non-schengen gateside refreshments

I absolutely do not want to stir up the hornets nest that was the recent drinking water thread, but I will be flying LHR-AMS-LIM in a few days and am wondering if anyone knows whether F gates have vending machines gateside?

I usually fly AMS-LCY and I know the gates they use for that do, but haven't made a longer non-Schengen trip through AMS since I flew to EWR in 2008, and well, I just can't remember!

I no longer fly KL longhaul, so no recent experience, but last October at least one F gate did indeed have a vending machine. F7, if memory serves.

I'm sure I saw one the other week on AMS>GRU at an F gate but can't be sure.

Not trying to stir anything up but the lady in front of me at a D gate last week gave the guy her bottle of water and he put it onto a tray and it went straight through the machine and out the other side without being binned. Not bagged, just loose. And she gave it to him.

G7 : Schiphol Innovative Gate

Schiphol opened refurbished gate G7 yesterday. This high tech gate not only features a separate luxurious C pax area, but also has a water cooler/fountain!

The gate was developed with input from Cathay Pacific, which airline has exclusive rights to the gate through August.

Full details here (in Dutch).

Picture of water fountain (plus woman getting water for her horse) here.

Very interesting! Looks good, especially the lighting.

Also interesting to note, the lighting will be customizable per airline... blue for KLM, red for British Airways etc. etc. Should look good I think!

Maybe there will also be better refreshments after the security check-point... better anyway than just crisps and candy bars. Perhaps another way for Schiphol to earn back some of the expenses: overpriced sandwiches, which travellers always seem willing to pay for while on the move (me included).

What happened to the art of stuff-yourself-at-the-lounge? No reasons to buy sandwiches.. ;-)

This is indeed an option if you visit the Privium Club Lounge, where they serve quality food and snacks.

Doing so at a Crown lounge would pose a threat to your immediate wellbeing and long-term health. I should imagine that the same holds true for most other AMS lounges, but I'm only familiar with BA's.

I was at the Crown Lounge the other day and they had salads, soup, breadrolls with various (Dutch :D ) fillings such as cheese, cold chicken cuts and cream cheese.
And some pretzels.
Not sure this is a long-term health hazard, as long as you stay off the vinegar in the white wine bottles ;)

Cold chicken cuts straight out of processing machine you mean, I am yet to see anything healthy ever being served in a KLM lounge in AMS, now that privium lounge is nice as Mr Johan states

Mmmm... Just got my Privium fill. No dinner for me when I get home later...
