Splitting Reservation
I split a reservation that I have for 4 into two reservations because the price came down, but the lower price was only available for 2 of the 4 seats. Then the lower price for an additonal seat later became available, so I then split the reservation for the 2 higher priced tickets into 2 so that I could get the lower price on one of the seats. So, I now have 3 reservations for 4 people:
1 adult and 1 child on one reservation, and 1 adult on the 2nd reservation and 1 child on the third reservation. Will I encounter any problems because of the split reservations and because of the fact that the child is on his own reservation? The Jet Blue agent said that there would be no problems with doing it this way at all, because we are all flying together and there is a record of the history of the reservation and the flights were split from original reservation. Does anyone have experience with this? |
it might be a problem paying a large cancellation fee on three reservations versus one reservation if you come to that... but if you're keeping the flight, I don't see what could cause you trouble.
I had an experience once when I booked mine and my friend's flights together. My friend decided to stay in South Florida and I had to go back to work in New Jersey.... Not only did they want to charge my friend the cancellation fee, they wanted to cancel my ticket too because we booked together. If that wasn't bad enough I was told that IF I still wanted to fly back I would have to rebook my flight at the higher rate. Since my friend cancelled his trip the day of the flight, you can imagine what the difference in price was. The conversation with the phone agent wasn't pretty. --Russ  |
JerseyVics, I actually remember you telling that story on here a while ago and it is crazy!
To the OP, no need to worry. JetBlue well documents your call/reservation history and it should be linked with other members of your party. I've flown on different confirmation numbers than family members for various reasons (different return date, ability to use TB points on some part of the trip, etc.) In the vent you need to cancel or change, ask if they can waive 2 fees because you are all booked together on the same flights. |
