Finally get to check out the E190!

Just got a business trip approved for late June.

JFK - BOS... I'm assuming I'll be on the Embraer E190, right?

Kinda sucks that I won't be able to take advantage of the $39 fare each way, it seems that offer ends a week before I'll be flying. $60 bux each way isn't too shabby either, I guess.

Actually, about a third of JFKBOS/BOSJFK flights are 320s..

awesome!! JFK-BOS is a combination 320/190 route as mentioned above. This is mainly for capacity. Some thought jetBlue was nuts to start 10x E190 JFK-BOS saying "no one will fly it...blah blah blah"...1.5 years later and this route is one of the best performers for jetBlue!

I've yet to fly on the E190 :( but I made myself a promise to do so this summer! Even if it's just a day trip. I am doing it with a friend of mine who is a fellow FlyerTalker, so if you're reading this...get read for the E190 this summer! :)

honestly, given the option I chose to fly even though its only a 3.5 hour ride from the office, but who wants to be stuck in traffic up I95 in CT on a beautiful summer day?

I am also really looking forward to flying the E190 to the point that I will go standby on the earlier flight if my confirmed flight is an A320 (I'm crazy right?)

Also, this is the first time I've experienced something like this... I called up Jet Blue's 800 number to see if I could weasel my way into a $39 fare versus the full $60 buck fare and the customer service rep advised that new sale fares will be announced next week, so instead of booking now I should wait till Monday! I've never seen anyone do that, typically they want you to book at the full rate.

I did also question how I could use the $50 compensation coupon e-mail while booking online and the lady issued an Internet Voucher I could use for check out when booking online. Pretty neat.

you may want to try the InterContinental Boston at the Harbor... it's brand new and beautiful and I'm pretty sure they're still booking at their intro rates... Defnitely worth it. Check it out on tripadvisor.com

booked my trip today, $60 each way... selected seats on the E190 both ways

booked a cheap hotel room too at The Shawmut Inn at $119 a night (I hope its not a dump)

Looks like I'll get to check out the E190 even before my Boston trip.... I just booked a return from Houston and when I went to pick out the seats I found myself choosing from two rows on each side of the eisle... can't wait!

Now is HOU - JFK considered a 4 or 6 point flight?

I'm also amazed that a week before traveling I was still able to book a fairly cheap ticket!

I flew JFK-HOU last September and it is a 4-point trip. I'm not sure how the points are determined since JFK-AUS isn't much longer a flight and that earns 6 points.

From the flyertalk mileage calculator:

JFK-AUS = 1520 = Long
JFK-HOU =1430 = Medium

So 1500 is the cutoff for "long/medium"

Another close call tells you the cutoff mileage for "medium/short"
SLC-SAN = 626 = Medium
SLC-LGB = 588 = Short

So logically:
1-599 = Short
600-1499= Medium
1500+ =Long

You must get approval for a $60 flight?? No kidding...
I usually present the fare budget to my boss and just say: "SIGN HERE" (please) :D
