New flight tracker on jetblue.com!

I know we were all upset when jetBlue disabled the flightview software from the new web site. However, I noticed a thread about this on a.net. JetBlue has added a pretty cool feature. Track a flight this is currently airborne and click "view map" under status.....

http://www.jetblue.com/flightstatus/...=BOS&x=34&y=12

***In the above link I randomly chosoe JFK-LGB for today. If there are no current flights in the air, just track a different city and repeat the process to see the live, interactive map!

The new map is very cool! There are some features we didn't have with the old Flightview, like adjusting the map and switching between satellite and map. On a more practical note, it is good to be able to see where the plane is when you're waiting for someone on an arriving flight.

Now what I'd like to see (loosely related) is a WAP site so we can check flight status from mobile phones without having to deal with the voice-recognition system. When you're in an airport or other noisy environment, voice-recognition doesn't work well.

The flight tracker is nice, though!

Agreed, but keep in mind that jetBlue's flight status system on the phone is NOT voice activated/recognized! It is all keypad-entry. That's one thing I love about it. Delta's is so annoying...if you say Fort Lauderdale, it says Dallas/Fort Worth. If you say New York Laguarida, it says Columbus, Ohio. LOL!

I thought the older map was much better, as it also included the weather on it. I am assuming using the Google map might be a cost-cutting decision? Its basically an advertisment for Google.

Why would it matter if it showed weather? As long as it shows the departure time, arrival time, speed, etc. 99% of the users (as not everyone is FT or a.net people) it gets the job done.

I also don't see how it has anything to do with cost cutting...especially considering a lot of money was just invested into the new site and the new reservations platform that will soon be introduced. How is it an advertisement for Google? They are entitled to show their logo, just as FlightView is/was entitled to do so...that's business.

Isn't this the same flight tracking system Delta uses?

I'm not sure, as I am too lazy to go to delta.com since that airline treats me like crap. :D

However, I did read on a.net that it is the same system.

Yes, more info is better. I like to see weather too.

Again, the great majority of the flying public doesn't care about things like weather. They want to know what time to pick upo their friends/family at the airport. That's all!

For those of us who care about and appreciate other things such as weather, especially FTer's and a.netter's, we can go to industry sites such as flightview.

JetBlue's new flight trackingsystem is awesome. And, more importantly, it gets the job done.

I hate to say it, but I would have to agree about delta. Even though every flight I have been on was ontime, they still have mediocre customer service (as an airline...not any one perticular person as to the fact that I have met some really great employees on DL). I guess once you go blue (JetBlue that is), you don't go back.

At least it's back in some form! Keep sending in your likes and dislikes because it's the only way we can make it better.

I have yet to have a bad B6 experience and I don't anticipate having one. I'm just waiting for service to Dallas and Minneapolis to come along. I don't mind using continental until it becomes fesable for B6 to start up there. I just hate it when NW and AA are much cheaper and I have to use them (It's a downside to not having a wallet the size of Bill Gates').
