10 Point Bonus

This message popped up in my e-mail today. I think the bonus brings me up to a whopping grand total of 12 points! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Dear TrueBlue Member,

Congratulations on being one of our first TrueBlue members!

To thank you for your business and for participating in our customer appreciation program, we are adding 10 bonus points to your TrueBlue account.

You do not need to do anything to claim your bonus. However, please allow up to 48 hours for the 10 points to be applied in your account, where they will appear as a "Registration Adjustment."

We thank you for joining TrueBlue and look forward to seeing you on your next JetBlue flight.

Haha yeah I got the 10 points too!
A roundtrip transcon flight booked online would be 24 points right? If so, im closer to actually get 100 points than i thought! Too bad JB doesnt have elite status...

hey, i signed up in hopes that they'll start flying here someday... 10 points for me as well!

This is the first time I not only couldn't care less about free bonuses but I must be the only person who hates Southwest and Jetblue. I think they are horrible airines and don't want their points even when they are a gift.

DLDC Aug 15, 2002 10:44 am

Well Marysunshine its great that you hate these airlines, why don't you post that opinion somewhere else like flyertalk travel. I'd be interested to know why you don't like these two airlines especially jetBlue. Its one thing to have a reason to not like something its another to just hate without reason. For the record, in my opinion jetBlue is an outstanding airline providing great service with an outstanding management team. If it weren't for them I would have to either fly Continentals ERJs out of EWR or be delayed at USAir's LGA on a very tired 737 or Dash-8. jetBlue being out of JFK is convinenant and also offering higher level service for lower pricing is simply outstanding. Just my 2 cents http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

And this raises an interesting question: Does JetBlue need a FF program to succeed? Even though TrueBlue is a lackluster program, so many people like JetBlue's service that its FF program may not even matter.

DLDC Aug 16, 2002 7:06 am

So far I've only flown jetBlue on short hops and not enough times in a year to get to 100... I mean its 4 points if booked online from JFK and ROC... that's a LOT of "commuting" to earn a ticket. It really doesn't matter to me becuase at their prices and their level of service, I really don't care if I get a free ticket. However, I can see those that fly transcon be interested in earning a free ticket here n' there http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif sorry no upgrades... I dont' think they'll let you ride in the cockpit http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

MarySunshine -

Are you somehow related to another FT'er named MisterNice? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

What are the odds that you've never actually FLOWN either airline that you've chosen to disparage?

Marysunshine Aug 20, 2002 6:33 am

Okay, for the record I have flown both airlines. I find them to be exactly what they are...no frills. I had an incident with southwest whereby I had purchased a ticket as a gift for my sister and special for my husband and I that I didn't realize at the time, it was several years back, that saved me very little money, $13.00 to be exact. We took my sister as a gift to San Diego with us. When we were returning, we were very very early for our flight. I noticed there were three flights departing earlier and asked if they were full I was told they were very empty. However they would not let us take an earlier flight because while my sister's fare, $13. more than mine, was eligible, my husband's and mine were not, so we had to sit at the airport while three empty flights left. I'm not arguing that their rules aren't their rules. they are. But I have a right to my feelings and I think they were ridiculous sending out three empty flights and letting us wait around the airport. As far as Jetblue, I flew them in February. In fact it was the anniversary of their first flight to Fort Lauderdale. I found the seats to be very tight. I like AA and I like their "more room in coach". I thought it was exceedingly uncomfortable and I'd rather pay a little more and have breakfast on my flight. When leaving NY very early in the day most restaurants at the airport are still closed and it's difficult to purchase food. I did learn my lesson and won't fly them again, but that is my experience and I am entitled to my opinion.! You have every right to disagree with me.

DLDC Aug 20, 2002 8:30 am

That's cool that you are more of a traditional flyer and enjoy the services that come with them. I guess there will not be any more no frills flying for you.

I prefer the leather seats and have some tv to watch. Not to mention the TerraBlues make me quite happy http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif and something that others may think is silly but their inflight "safety professionals" are quite delightful to look at than the prison matrons http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I'm sorry if it seemed to reply harshly to your post, but in the future if you don't mind explaning why you feel a certain why instead of just they suck would work better http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Excellent point B6-JFK-ROC! Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but they should expect to be challenged on it when they fail to explain it!

Hey Mary, I like my upgrades and MRTC as well, but I think we're quickly reaching the point that those things are going to come at a premium price. So I'm curious.... Just what kind of price premium are you willing to pay for MRTC on AA vs the same routing on WN or B6? $50 more per person? $25? $10? Trust me, AA (and the other "full-service" airlines) are looking for a way to make us pay for the service.

And for the record, WN is very clear about "no standbys". Part of the problem in this industry is that there isn't a rule that can't be broken at the big 6 airlines if you whine enough.

Marysunshine Aug 20, 2002 12:11 pm

I wouldn't even begin to try and predict what will happen with the traditional airines or the no frills companies. I can only decide that FOR NOW, while I have a choice without paying a huge difference in price, I prefer to fly on airlines that provide me with service (AA has been very kind to me in many circumstances, and I have no status) or at last pretend to try and accommodate me (which Southwest did not). I may some day be forced to compromise and fly an airline that I don't like, but while I can, I will patronize those that make me feel like a valued consumer.

This is getting way off topic...

Anyway, I would just like to say that I've flown with both AA and JetBlue, and if JetBlue were to fly to Tucson I'd partonize them almost exclusively. I'm PLT with AA and earned ~600,000 total miles in AAdvantage, but would give it up for

1) 24 channel TVs at every seat. On AA, I fly mostly MD-80s, which have no entertainment system whatsoever.

2) Brand new A320s. I'd take them over AA's aging MD-80s every day.

3) Leather seats. True, with AA's MRTC the seat pitch is a couple of inches more, but JetBlue's seat pitch is nonetheless comparable to other major airlines.

4) On-time performance is signficantly better than that of AA.

5) Good choice of inflight snacks. AA recently eliminated meals from most coach flights. I often fly TUS-DFW-LGA or TUS-ORD-LGA, and on these routes I usually don't get more than a tiny bag of pretzels and half a can of coke on AA flights.

6) Consistently friendly and competent employees. With AA, it's been a mixed bag.

7) Last but not least, cheaper fares!

jetBlue's frequent flyer program is truly awful. It is a terrible joke. Southwest has a great frequent flyer program. If the majors should devalue their frequent flyer programs and first class cabins, I will begin to fly Southwest Airlines. I will avoid jetBlue.

TransWorldOne, jetBlue is geared towards leasure travelers not business travelers. While they welcome the business they don't feel it necessary to have a strong flyer program to keep its customer base. As grandpa jones will probably tell all his poker friends his good experiance on a none cattle run and then they'll fly, etc.... So on that note, I agree with you that jetBlue's frequent flyer program sucks, but their quality product more than makes up for it... just my 2 cents though http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
