A321neo Mint doors question

B6 newbie here. I've read in various places that the doors will be locked open on domestic flights as a money-saving move (no 5th FA needed), but hadn't seen anything recent on this. Is it still the case here in 2026? Would like to try the suites but facing the aisle like that on a transcon seems to defeat all the privacy, no? Thanks!

This is the case on the 3NS (A321neo with 16J). On the 3NL (A321neoLR with 24J) the doors are unlocked. They sometimes do a domestic flight here and there so keep an eye out for it.

IME the door does not provide a ton of privacy anyway as the walls are not very high up.

Maybe OP is trying to prevent a staring contest with the neighbor across the aisle. ;)

:p

Though in all seriousness, since the seats are at a 45-degree angle, you would only be able to see someone's legs and feet even with the doors open. You would have to lean pretty far forward to see the face of the person across from you.

That is correct. Here's the actual POV with the locked door

In your photo I can clearly see the face of the person across and one row up. Unacceptable! I suppose this is a real risk if the passenger is seven feet tall and can turn their head like an owl ;)

While Mint FAs are specially trained, exorcism is not part of their job duty, although you can bring your own holy water as long as it's 3oz or less. A Mint Condition with double vodka might do the trick - the lime burns. :D
